Talk:The Organic Orchard
First time account, so I'm not sure if it's kosher to just outright change stuff, or if I should challenge... so I'm challenging.
Current wiki entry claims (emphasis mine) that "Using the scent gland only grants ten turns of scent. The drone scent gland, however, will drop within those ten turns, and the royal guard scent gland will drop within the ten turns given by the drone gland."
However, I'm apparently an immediate counter-example. Got larval scent gland, spent 10 turns adventuring in the Feeding Chamber with no drops at all. Had to go back and adventure in the Hatching Chamber for a while to pick a new larval scent gland up. Obviously means that the drone scent gland is not guaranteed in 10 turns, which makes me question the will of the royal guard scent gland as well.

- offering counter example as well. I had to get the Larval gland *twice* before I could continue on. Took a total of about 25 adventures in the feeding chamber to get a gland. It's likely, but not a sure bet.--Terry 04:00, 4 July 2007 (CDT)
- Same here but once I upped my item drops a bit I was getting about 4 scent glands in 10 turns from each adventure except the hatching chamber, i'm pretty sure the item drops increase from one area to the next. Discordance 07:17, 8 July 2007 (CDT)
Hardcore
I don't seem to be getting any profits. Not available during hardcore? Discordance 07:17, 8 July 2007 (CDT)
I get the profits in hardcore, so yes it's available.--Feliks 03:52, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
Zerg reference?
It isn't necessarily all that explicit, but the mechanics of this area remind me strongly of the Zerg from Starcraft. Zerg creatures start out as larva, and then can mutate into drones, zergling fighters, queens, etc. Should I put this in as a reference, or is it just a coincidence? --Kazim 13:07, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
but that's also true for many real hive insects (bees and ants come to mind) the zerg larva, drone, fighter and queen devision comes from the RL insect world
- Considering the previous Diablo II references (Hidden City f.ex.), I suspect this area is probably inspired by the worm tunnels in the desert area of Act II of said game. Various combat messages with the worms mention green goo, which is also prevalent in Diablo II's zone.Bakapyrite 11:18, 27 July 2007 (CDT)
Fifth Large Chamber
Anyone else suspicious of that empty fifth chamber? I feel like there must be some way to get into it. I've tried Knob Goblin Perfume, Deoderant, Re-Oderant, and the three scent glands, but nothing so far. Any other idea? Or anything think I'm just wasting time in trying?--Luthwyhn 16:54, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
- It's probably nothing. Jick said on the radio he didn't know what he was going to do with the chambers before he drew them. He just randomly drew a few chambers and worked around what he had later. --TechSmurf 17:45, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
Profit range
I just got 4055 (i.e. outside the current speculated range). 4000-5000 seems more likely than 4100-4900 IMO.--Feliks 03:54, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
Scent Drop Rate
I am positive that the drop rate for Scent Glands are lower for Frat Boys than for Hippies. I spent about 60 adv getting 3 larval scent glands, and using all 20 adv in the Feeding Chamber resulted in 0 glands. I believe that the drop rate is halved for Frats Weighted Companion Cube 12:06, 3 August 2008 (CDT)
