Will items that increas item drops from monsters help get the drops needed for this quest? --Wertyk 16:36, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

Holy crap, does anyone else think this sidequest is ridiculous? After finding the hatchling scent gland, if you dont find the drone scent gland in 10 adventures, go back to start. After finding the drone scent gland, if you dont find the royal guard scent gland in 10 adventures, go back to start. What do they want you to do, sleep with the RNG? --Wertyk 16:42, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

Ok, it isnt so bad after i found out that incresed item drops do help. I just ate an off-white egg and a blue-frosted astral cupcake, and got it within a few adventures. --Wertyk 17:06, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

  • ten turns? that's not proof, just rng love. we'll need a bit deeper spading than that. a hundred turns in each of the possible categories should do it. happy spading. --Evilkolbot 17:11, 13 July 2007 (CDT)
    • I'm not saying I actually spaded this. I'm just saying that IF you don't find the next scent gland in 10 turns, you have to go back to the start of the whole quest. --Wertyk 11:20, 30 July 2007 (CDT)

I didn't do any major spadework, but with a 25 pound Gravy Fairy, I managed to finish the quest in 9 turns. --Lary 09:59, 18 July 2007 (CDT)

  • The scent glands are pickpocketable (somewhat surprising, since they show up as quest items). Makes things a little easier for DB's and AT's. Haven't noticed yet if Divine Crackers work as well --Method 14:01, 5 March 2008 (CST)
I've succeeded with the crackers. --Starwed 14:26, 5 March 2008 (CST)

They are a guaranteed drop with the rave pickpocket, which means if you've completed the disco bandit nemesis quest you can complete this in four turns. --Lilli 14:01, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Ridiculous Run

With a 22-lb gravy fairy and about 40% Item Drop otherwise, I finished this in 4 turns, the absolute minimum.this unsigned comment was added by Mookster at 19:28 BST, 9 September 2007

  1. mummy is very proud.
  2. sign you posts. --Evilkolbot 14:31, 9 September 2007 (CDT)

Has anyone figured out what the extra blank chamber is for? Possible shortcut/extras a la McMillicancuddy dooks shortcut? -- Josephpate 12:14 PM 14 October 2007

  • Jick has said on-air that he drew all the chambers before he had a plan for the quest. It's simply an extra chamber that never got a use. --TechSmurf 14:22, 14 October 2007 (CDT)

So, according to Webster's a Crescendo is 1 a: a gradual increase  ; specifically : a gradual increase in volume of a musical passage b: the peak of a gradual increase. So, since b is indeed a peak, that second note is wrong.--Bhac ssylan 21:36, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

4 Turn Run

This only works with a Disco Bandit, but: Just use the rave combo that pickpockets. It's 100% effective for a regular drop, and it makes this quest ridiculously easy.--Hyp nobono 02:21, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Starting this Quest

Is it necessary to first visit the produce stand in war fatigues before the filthworms start dropping scent glands? Maybe I just had extremely bad luck this run, but even with more than +200% Item Drop, I didn't get a scent gland in 10 adventures. Then I visited the produce stand and tried again. Finished the quest in under 10 turns. Maybe someone who can rave combo can test this? -- Straha 07:37, 25 November 2012 (CET)

Weird discrepancy in drop rates

It usually takes me a disproportionate number of attempts (>10) to get the hatchling scent gland despite item drop boosts, but the other two drop almost immediately... this seems weirdly at odds with the item drop rates... (I never talk to the vendor before doing this quest; see the post above.) Arancaytar (talk) 00:21, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
