My guess is that like the brown sugar cane, this item will let you make 3 boxed wines when you eat it, like the brown sugar cane is to bottle of rum. Purely speculation on my part, though. --Loudgrrl4 ever 20:13, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

  • This does infact work. I don't know how to add the recipie, but square grapes + fermenting powder = 3 boxed wines. --Loudgrrl4 ever 03:45, 26 June 2007 (CDT)

You eat the square grapes, carefully squishing the sharp corners with your tongue. Sadly, you don't develop grape-based superpowers. Adventures You gain 7 Adventures. You gain 5 Strengthliness. You gain a Muscle point! You gain 15 Wizardliness. You gain 2 Chutzpah. --Unhuman 20:07, 27 June 2007 (CDT)

"Sadly, you don't develop grape-based superpowers." - could this be a reference to the Gr8tness effect? --ShaggyShaggs 03:00, 8 September 2007 (CDT)

  • Nah, just the fact that they're mutant grapes.--Toper 22:03, 10 September 2007 (CDT)
  • In the references section of the page I read this would be a reference to spiderman, but I strongly disagree as this seems off. It is more likely a reference to the oddly-shaped Devil's fruits of the series One piece, which give superpowers.--Ids 20:24, 18 November 2011 (CET)

These don't drop when you're adventuring in the Laboratory at an appropriate character level (6 in my case). Something seems to be required to trigger this item as a potential drop -- either being high level, or reading the MacGuffin diary, or something. Someone with firm knowledge of what the trigger is should add it to the main page. --Greycat 10:47, 22 October 2007 (CDT)

Are you sure it's not just RNG screwage? Jick hasn't put in any triggers for non-quest items yet. It's possible, but doubtful. Try 500 adv with no item drop and another 500 with 20% (mad looting, phat loot) and then, if you have no grapes, we'll know there's a trigger.--DaemonStryker 10:55, 22 October 2007 (CDT)

Here's an oddity- when you find square grapes, they are listed after bounty hunter hunter petri dishes, which usually go last. This almost garuntees that the there is some kind of activation required to get them.--Valter 13:45, 19 December 2007 (CST)
