# Talk:A Shelf Full of Arcane Tomes and Whatnot

What say we get a table together showing the average stat gains at different levels? I can't, as I'm not in a good clan, but someone else? Also, any idea why I'm not getting a subject header over my post?

## Cost

It should be mentioned that this item costs 30,000 meat.

I don't know if it would be redundant to mention that it can be purchased on the Clan Stash screen under Clan Furniture.

## Interpolated Data

I've compiled a few hundred turns thus far on a high level Sauceror character - I'll spare everyone the raw data - please rest assured that I'm qualified to compile these data, and am doing so with computer statistical software (mostly Excel and R). My findings thus far are:

• the formula for stat gain at high level Myst is consistent with the range (3*M)/20 to (3*M)/10, M set at 100 (in other Clan Rumpus Room equipment, this formula was derived with M equal to you main stat, capped at 100)
• the values across the range are distributed equally, i.e. flat density curve
• gains on Myst Stat Days are 1.5x that formula, although values occur at all integers, so the values must be rounded after the calculation for stat gain and the Stat Days multiplier
• the distribution did show a bias towards even numbers on regular days and multiples of 3 (i.e. stat day adjusted even numbers) on Stat Days, suggesting a rounding bias somewhere in the formula
• evidence from other Clan Rumpus Room equipment suggests that it's your main stat, i.e. the one determining your level, that is used in these calculations, and not necessarily your Myst

I might add more later with a multi; here's one decent data point for level 9. Data for three or four different levels should be enough for a formula.
Edit: Added some level 6 data.--Dehstil (t|c) 18:50, 20 October 2006 (CDT)

• If I could get just the a range for a higher level (25+) person (a few adventures worth, maybe even one is enough), that would help reduce error a bit.--Dehstil (t|c) 19:22, 20 October 2006 (CDT)

Here's an unformated data set for you. These results were achieved using only 1 adventure every time.

Those are mysticality stat day gains, no?--Kiltan 02:04, 2 January 2007 (CST)

Yes, the first column lists the level of my character, the second column lists my mysticality, and the third column lists the number of points I recieved each time I spent 1 turn reading from the bookshelf. --DreamTheEndless 06:14, 2 January 2007 (CST)

Sorry - I just realized that I may have misunderstood your question. Those are mysticality stat gains achieved by reading from the bookcase spending one adventure everytime and documenting the gain.

--DreamTheEndless 09:12, 2 January 2007 (CST)

I did some spading with the different training machines, different classes, and different levels.

For one character, a Turtle Tamer at level 9 with starting stats of 76, 54 and 47. Stat gain using the machine was 12 to 23, average 18.4, over 32 adventures. The formula works with the character's primary stat (76, which gives 11.4 to 22.8) and definitely not the myst (54, which gives 8.1 to 16.2). Similar testing with the other 2 machines and other characters yielded similar results.--Foggy 17:37, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
