Jackin' the Jukebox
Jackin' the Jukebox

One of the bar brawlers gets tossed across the bar into the "jukebox," a magical contraption that plays music when a patron inserts meat into it, or when it's struck by someone sufficiently cool. The jukebox starts playing one of Loathing's top 20 pop songs, "Show Me Your Sausage, Baby," by Susie and the Harem Girls.

"Ye gods!" Clancy wails, covering his ears. "What is this foul noise?"

"It's music, fair Clancy," you say.

"It sounds akin to the shrieking of a death sparrow," Clancy says, shuddering. "Although, upon further listen, it doth have a beat, and one could dance to it. Mayhap I can learn something from this songcraft."

By the time someone silences the jukebox with a well-thrown beer bottle, Clancy is already humming a new tune and scribbling lyrics on a bar napkin. Most of them seem to rhyme "baby" with "crazy" or "maybe."

Clancy gains a level!

Occurs at A Barroom Brawl as an Avatar of Boris.

References

  • Clancy's comment upon further listen is a reference to the phrase, "It's got a good beat, and you can dance to it," which is associated with the "Rate-a-Record" segment on American Bandstand.
  • The statement that the jukebox will play when "struck by someone sufficiently cool" is a reference to Fonzie on the TV show Happy Days, who could turn on a jukebox or pinball machine by striking them.
