This is a plain old book of cheap paper matches like you find lying around pretty much everywhere in modern civilization. It's like cultural dandruff. (In-game plural: books of matches) |
Obtained From
- The Hidden Apartment Building
- pygmy janitor
- The Hidden Bowling Alley
- pygmy janitor
- The Hidden Hospital
- pygmy janitor
- The Hidden Office Building
- pygmy janitor
- The Hidden Park
- pygmy janitor
When Used
- From inventory:
- If you have not found The Hidden City:

You admire the book of matches. From the staple to the little scratchy striking pad to the phosophorous-coated tips, it's a phillumenist's delight! |
- If you don't know the location of The Hidden Tavern:
![]() |
Huh. This book of matches says it came from a tavern not too far from the Hidden Park. You mark its location on your map. |
- If you know the location of The Hidden Tavern:
![]() |
You re-read the book of matches and refresh your memory of the Hidden Tavern's address. |
- In combat:
![]() |
You do that thing you've always wanted to do where you light an entire book of matches and throw it at somebody. It deals 40-50 damage, and is every bit as much fun as you imagined. |
Notes
- When used from inventory, this item reveals The Hidden Tavern in The Hidden City.
- Before November 9, 2014, this worked even if the player had never been to The Hidden City.
- Using this item from inventory does not consume it. Using it in combat does, obviously.
