World events

This page lists major one-time events which were experienced by the entire player base of Kingdom of Loathing. Some of these events provided a narrative explanation to smooth over changes in the underlying mechanics of the game. A few were in response to major bugs or catastrophic player data loss. Many were just for fun. This content is no longer available in the game, but is recorded here for historical interest.

August 4: Initial conflict with the Penguin Mafia

August 8: Black Sunday (major bug exploitation)

August 8 – 10: The Huge Cannon

November 18 – January 19, 2005: Knott Yeti repopulation drive, booze drive, and naming contest.
