Where Wood You Like to Go
Your progress through the wood is blocked by a massive chasm. Well, not massive exactly -- it's about fifteen feet deep, but it's too far to jump. You can see a campfire in the bottom of it, but there are no people around -- just plants.
Alternatively, there's a trail of mushrooms you could follow -- a little sign next to them says "THIS WAY TO THE FAERIE CYRKLE." Or, if that's a bridge too far in terms of spelling and tone, you could just grab one of the mushrooms and take it with you.
Incidentally, Cheswick's compass is going nuts here, with half of its needles spinning randomly and the other half pointing straight west. You peer through a gap in the trees to the west and see what looks like a massive green electrical storm -- some kind of anomalous conglomeration of ley energy!
Weird, there's also a pedestal here with a big red button on it labeled "SECRET QUEST." How did you never see that before?
|Head toward the... sigh... faerie cyrkle|
The trail of mushrooms grows sparser as you follow it, and it takes nearly an hour to reach the circle. Sorry, the cyrkle.
Your G. E. M. beeps.

|Go to the campsite||[FantasyRealm premium rope]|
You tie the rope to a tree and rappel down into the chasm. Then you spend an hour figuring out how to get the rope untied from down here. Your G. E. M. beeps, distracting me from explaining how you actually manage to deal with the rope situation.

|Head toward the anomaly||[Cheswick's compass]|
You step through the trees into the ley anomaly -- it's apparently also a time anomaly, because your G. E. M. beeps even though it hasn't been nearly an hour.
(Unlocks The Ley Nexus)
|Grab a mushroom|
You grab a mushroom, then decide to take a nap for an hour. Your G. E. M. beeps you awake, refreshed and invigorated.
|You acquire an item: plump purple mushroom|
|Press the big red button|
If the first button pressed: You press the button, and from somewhere underneath it you hear a man's recorded voice say "Susan, please replace this recording with main quest progress dialog number one."
If the second button pressed:
You press the button, and from somewhere underneath it you hear a woman's recorded voice say "Hey, this is Susan, I'm not sure if this thing is actually working correctly or not, but"
It cuts off abruptly.
If the third button pressed:
You press the button, and from somewhere underneath it you hear a woman's recorded voice say, in an extremely fake British accent, "Great work, adventurer! You're one step closer to rescuing me from the Skeleton Lord's clutches!"
Hmm. You seem to be missing some context, here.
If the fourth button pressed:
You press the button, and from somewhere underneath it you hear a woman's recorded voice say "Look, if the clowns in narrative can't do any better than another dumb damsel-in-distress story, then I don't see why I should bother putting in the effort on these line reads."
If the fifth button pressed:
Fight the Skeleton Lord
|Leave for now|
You'll get back to this decision later.
