vicious gnauga You're fighting a vicious gnauga

Gnaugas are all teeth and tough, tough hide. It's tough to hide from their tough hide, I can tell you that for free. The rest'll cost you.

Hit Message(s):

It bites you with its sharp, sharp teeth while battering you with its tough, tough hide. Argh! Ow! Oof!

It batters you with its tough, tough teeth while biting you with its sharp, sharp hide. Wait. Strike that. Reverse it. Ooh! Ugh! Ooh!

It charges at you. Fortunately, it trips over a rock. Unfortunately, it uses that opportunity to bite your foot. Oof! Ugh! Ow!

Critical Hit Message:

You've always wondered how many teeth a gnauga has. Well, until now. Now you know, because every single one of them has been sunk into your neck. Ouch. Oof! Eek! Oof!

Miss Message(s):

It tries to bite you with its sharp, sharp teeth, but can't decide which part of you looks the tastiest.

It tries to batter you with its hide, but you hide from the battering.

It charges at you, but you waggle your finger in front of it and say "Gnauga, please."

Fumble Message:

In its beserk fervor, it mistakes a nearby rock for your head and starts gnawing on it. (FUMBLE!)

  • "Strike that. Reverse it." is a reference to Roald Dahl's 1964 children's book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where Willy Wonka occasionally reversed what he meant.
  • The gnauga itself refers to Naugahyde and its mascot, Naugahyde itself being pleather. Early Naugahyde marketing included a fictional animal called the "nauga" that was supposedly the natural source of all the naugahyde manufactured.
  • "Gnauga, please" is a play on "Nigga Please," the title of a hip-hop album by Ol' Dirty Bastard.
