Image Files

Just to let you know, to make it useful, when using the {{kolimage}} template you have to also put the path that the image is found at. Also, always upload files with the same filename as they are in-game. If it says a file already exists with the said name, check it, and if it is the same image there is no need to re-upload it. There are also some cases where images have the same file name, so it may be wise to check there too. Happy wiki editing! --TheDotGamer 00:59, 4 April 2007 (CDT)

  • Thanks for the advice, I was pretty much just winging it in terms of figuring out how to do things.  :D What did you mean by the path the image is found at?--Joel 12:23, 4 April 2007 (CDT)
    • I was referring to the URL of the image. For example, for the Image:Loincloth.gif you would type: {{kolimage|itemimages/loincloth.gif}}, since the URL is: I already corrected it this time, so no need to worry about it! --TheDotGamer 13:50, 4 April 2007 (CDT)

History of Loathing (2007)

Howdy! I was maintaining the History of Loathing page for the majority of 2006. I noticed that you're doing the maintenance on the 2007 page and today we posted simulateous edits. Just curious if you're planning to keep the 2007 page updated throughout the year. --Spacini 07:58, 17 January 2007 (CST)

  • Hmm, well, I wasn't exactly planning on it as the way you put it, but every time a update is posted I will usually check to see if it's been posted or not yet. At least the "official" updates. I've noticed in the past that sometimes the history includes snippets from the forums too though. But as I see it the pages are more for the official updates. Anyway, I don't there's any harm in having two people watch out for a page. I mean, how many times are we going to post simultaneous edits ;)? --TheDotGamer 08:11, 17 January 2007 (CST)
    • Thanks for your quick reply. I also noticed that the history started getting loose and did my best to delete the nonsense and forum info. I agree with you that it should be for announcements and trivial updates. It's settled then: we'll work together on it. --Spacini 08:18, 17 January 2007 (CST)

The towel is not a one-time drop. The adventure which drops it is. Read the note that Jubbers left when he did the same thing I did. --Beatrix kiddo 23:43, 8 November 2006 (CST)

A Proposal

You have been nominated as our next wiki admin. Would you like the position? If so, leave me a confirmation message somewhere and give me your email address to add to our admin contact list. Thanks.--jin 19:52, 24 January 2007 (CST)

Welcome to the team

Glad to have you on board as official admin. Not much different from what you've been doing, but you can now delete pages as needed and take care of any bannings that need to occur (except that we're currently having "issues" with that, so don't ban anyone right away). --jin 20:08, 24 January 2007 (CST)

  • Welcome indeed :)--SomeStranger (t|c) 22:05, 24 January 2007 (CST)
  • Hiya.--Dehstil (t|c) 22:22, 24 January 2007 (CST)
  • Welcome aboard, and drive safely. --Quietust (t|c) 22:27, 24 January 2007 (CST)

  • Thanks for the fix. That was a fairly big mistake on my part..--Dehstil (t|c) 19:14, 12 February 2007 (CST)

Format Question

  • I saw you altered my addition to the Huge Ghuol page. I took my formatting from the Naughty Sorceress page, but yours is obviously much cleaner. Should hers be cleaned up as well?--Dorf 14:29, 12 March 2007 (CDT)
    • Well, since the NS has so many special moves I don't think it's worth modifying the template just for her, as the most other monsters have right now is one. --TheDotGamer 19:54, 12 March 2007 (CDT)
      • Fair enough. Might be more of a project than it would be worth.--Dorf 20:08, 12 March 2007 (CDT)
        • Well, this issue has already been raised at Template talk:Battle, but if you have any additional input on the matter, posting there would be appreciated.--Dehstil (t|c) 21:41, 12 March 2007 (CDT)

I've gotten 6 clovers in the past (after the nerf) from the Hermit.--GREENAlDEN555 18:06, 19 March 2007 (CDT)

  • Have you? (continue discussion here) --Quietust (t|c) 18:21, 19 March 2007 (CDT)

Request for arbitration

I've just had a run-in with deli guy, a user who claims I am overly arrogant and not suited to being an admin. Please read the comment he left on my talk page and let me know what you think. For a little bit of background, he uploaded an image, comparing Gnirf, the World's Sneakiest Gnome with the Tan-U-Lots Tanning Beds, consisting of a very large table and taking up over a megabyte of space, and wanted to know how to place it on the wiki page for Gnirf. I certainly hope my position as admin hasn't gone to my head, so I'd prefer some additional opinions in this matter. --Quietust (t|c) 15:24, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

  • Honestly, I've felt a couple times that you may have come off a little bit hard, but I don't think that it has anything to do with you being an admin. Sometimes it's hard to separate the honest newbies from the ones just trying to cause a ruckus. In this case I believe that although no harm was meant you could have put it more politely. I feel that reading your post on his talk page does come off very strong. Particularly with the bold and italics. Rereading your post without the emphasis on these spots comes off as 10 times more friendly. I realize that this probably wasn't your intent, but it's just what I noticed while reading it. It does appear that he did make an honest attempt for help. I must say that when I was new here, I was always very careful about what I did. I tried to read up on all the guidelines before I contributed something. I know I've made a few mistakes here and there, but far less than if I didn't read the guidelines. Now, not everybody has time to read the guidelines, or more importantly they don't know where they are there or they are not clear enough. You did the right thing in pointing him to our guidelines. However, in all honestly, if I were to receive the message you posted as you posted it, on one of my first days here, I probably either wouldn't return or just flat out stop contributing.

Overall, I think you make great contributions to the wiki, and honestly, I don't know what it would be like without you here, given all the time and dedication you continue to put into it... especially as an admin. I'm sure you've noticed I've taken somewhat a hiatus the past couple months. Nothing to do with anybody, just haven't really had the time for it. Pretty much still been playing KoL as usual though. Even during this time though I've always kept an eye out on the wiki and will probably always continue to do so... Anyway, like I said, keep up the good work you do as an admin but try to be a little more polite to people inexperienced with the wiki. And most importantly, Thanks!... for doing what you do here day after day. --TheDotGamer 14:32, 30 June 2007 (CDT)
