Er, given that he's a friend of mine, I don't see an issue. --Beatrix kiddo 21:59, 5 November 2006 (CST)

Are plurals going to be added to each item's metadata now? I'm not sure what you're changing, but I gather from the grab bag edit that the item pictures are inherent now, so I'm assuming the plurals will be as well?--Beatrix kiddo 21:55, 6 November 2006 (CST)

I noted that you seem to be performing a lot of the metadata page editing, so, even though you're presumably botting it, thought this could be a good way to comment. As a user, having the metadata pages come up in a main namespace search is very confusing and/or annoying. Would it be possible to exclude them from a regular search, maybe put them in a separate namespace? Is this an option that I'm just not aware of, or something that's coming along as this is implemented? --Salien 16:13, 8 November 2006 (CST)

  • I agree with Salien - it's a little annoying to have metadata pages come up so often when I click on "Random Page." (Not to knock your work, by any means!) --TheArchivist 22:01, 8 November 2006 (CST)
    • For the record, I'm well aware of this problem, and there's really no way to easily fix it without getting the Coldfront admins involved (to have a new namespace created, or to have /data pages be somehow excluded from 'search' and 'random'). --Quietust (t|c) 22:04, 8 November 2006 (CST)
      • We probably should have created a Data: namespace and created the pages accordingly....if that ends up being the best solution in the end then so be it :(.--SomeStranger (t|c) 23:22, 8 November 2006 (CST)

Sorry! I'm new to wiki editing, and am trying to write my profile page... It even took me a few minutes to work out how to write this message...

I'll use the Sandbox in future, Sorry again.--The Safe 07:52, 9 November 2006 (CST)

Pie in the Face is looking for /data page it doesn't have, due to the use of useitem after it is wiped off. Nothing major, just stops the image being shown. No idea where I was supposed to report this, but you were doing a lot with the data pages so I thought here would be okay. --Ryo Sangnoir 11:15, 9 November 2006 (CST)

  • The proper solution, indicentally, was to not use useitem in that situation, since you aren't actually using an item. --Quietust (t|c) 12:17, 9 November 2006 (CST)

Quietbot is currently making all booze pages say "you booze...something" instaead of their normal text. Am I missing something here, or is this pointless?--Kiltan 18:43, 9 November 2006 (CST)

  • It was a bug in the text replacement code I was using. Nobody's perfect, you know. --Quietust (t|c) 18:44, 9 November 2006 (CST)
    • ah, so I was missing something, thanks for clearing that up--Kiltan 18:59, 9 November 2006 (CST)
      • The actual condition of failure was whenever the acquire line had a | at the end - the bot was searching for lines of the format "image=[something]|\n" (\n == newline) and removing them, and those just happened to match. In retrospect, this could have been averted by putting an extra newline at the beginning of the matchtext and then replacing the expression with a newline instead of removing it. --Quietust (t|c) 19:10, 9 November 2006 (CST)

hey. sorry. that was kinda stupid. I tried to connect, and didn't get in, guess it was because I didn't have the requirements.--Cong06 21:37, 28 November 2006 (CST)

I may be new to wiki-ing, but what was wrong with pointing out as a reference that potency isn't pronounced pote-n-see as stated in the description of Pronounced Potency? --Unreferencer 21:33, 14 February 2007

  • Mainly because it isn't particularly relevant, and because the only difference between "pote-n-see" and the pronunication you provided was that you had the "t" in the second syllable instead of the first, when it's actually effectively in both (being what divides the two syllables). --Quietust (t|c) 22:42, 14 February 2007 (CST)
    • Well, if that's all (shrug). Jick and co seem to have a preference of language jokes, and to me at least, pote-n-cy is a lot different than po-ten-cy, so why not point it out? --Unreferencer 22:14, 14 February 2007

What was wrong with the edit of the Lightning Trap (MP loss) article that pointed out the reference to The Core? I don't know if it was a botting thing or what, but you reverted it and didn't leave any sign of why. --KireiNaBooshi 20:47, 22 February 2007 (CST)

  • There are references to one's "kung fu being stronger" from countless martial arts films, and they date back to far before The Core. --Quietust (t|c) 22:00, 22 February 2007 (CST)

Jubbers's Wiki Account

I'm asking for your help with this because you are a Wiki admin - not because it relates to you in any way. Today, as I went to add something to the Wiki, it told me that I was not logged in. This was strange as I have set it so it automatically logs me in (the cache was probably cleared or something). Also, I have forgotten my password because I haven't needed to enter it. I decided to make a new account, Jubbers14. But how do I redirect my talk page? I can't move it as - stupidly - I made a User:Jubbers14 page.--Jubbers14 20:01, 11 November 2006 (CST)

  • It's okay. SomeStranger deleted the User:Jubbers14 page for me.--Jubbers14 22:25, 11 November 2006 (CST)

The palindrophy edit

look at the third bulletin in the notes section of the Trophy page. it lists that one along with several others.

  • For the record, the note you were adding to Palindrophy was already there - read the 1st note and you will see it describing the exact circumstances. --Quietust (t|c) 00:02, 27 November 2006 (CST)
  • There, I reworded it to emphasize that the trophies still become available if you meet the conditions again; if you ascend, the trophy's conditions reset and you will lose your chance to buy it from the trophy hut until you meet those conditions again.--Dehstil (t|c) 23:59, 26 November 2006 (CST)
  • Sorry about that, I thought that you couldn't get it after this ascension permenantly. I completely misunderstood that note.--DurinsBane 01:05, 27 November 2006 (CST)

Stat block on your user page

Would you have any problems with me using your wiki markup for the permmed stats on my user page? I'll give appropriate credits of course.--Zeryl 12:56, 4 December 2006 (CST)

  • I assume you are referring to the skill block - go ahead and use it as you wish. --Quietust (t|c) 13:16, 4 December 2006 (CST)
    • I was, I mis-worded it. Thanks a ton --Zeryl 13:48, 4 December 2006 (CST)
  • I will also be using your skill block as taken from Zeryl's page. I also wish to ask of you some things. Please contact me via AIM (ReMiXedD) or MSN (xmagiragnarok (AT) yahoo .com). If you do not have either of these, please leave me a message. --MagiNinjA 15:51, 1 January 2007 (CST)

New template proposal

Was curious how I would go about asking/making a new template, or section in all item pages for a "location" of the item in your inventory. I'm sure i'm not the only one who can't remember where xxx item is, and this would help out I think. Suggestions? --Zeryl 23:30, 27 December 2006 (CST)

Summon Hearts Results

Hi, sorry for not signing my post on the 'summon hearts' page. Does your table there include my figures too? --Eitheladar 08:19, 1 February 2007 (CST)

  • Yes, your results are still in there. --Quietust (t|c) 08:30, 1 February 2007 (CST)

Game Mechanics Links

Hey, I just noticed you removing some Game Mechanics links on item pages which provide effects which in turn actually do modify the respective mechanics. I don't think that a standard has ever been stated clearly. You may be interested in weighing in on the discussion I started at Proposed Standards#See Also Details a couple months ago on the issue. I always felt that only the effect page should list the respective mechanic but to some extent it does make sense to me that the item page could list it as well. As long as one or the other is established as the standard it doesn't matter that much to me.--TheDotGamer 20:07, 4 February 2007 (CST)

  • That'll teach me to edit while I'm frustrated at the site, what with all of the damn "MySQL has gone away" messages I get every other page load... --Quietust (t|c) 20:21, 4 February 2007 (CST)

Mushroom Sim Source

When I used your mushroom simulator some months ago (half a year or more), I found that it grew flaming mushrooms where stinky ones ought to be and vice versa. (Sorry I didn't think to mention it sooner.)

After checking your source I've confirmed that your recipes themselves are right, but they don't match the images and alt text in your $imgs and $names arrays. In your arrays flaming spores are index 13 and stinky spores are 15, flaming mushrooms are 16 and stinky mushrooms are 18. But in the recipes themselves, the lines

if (($a == 10) && ($b == 11)) return 13; // stinky
if (($a == 11) && ($b == 12)) return 14; // frozen
if (($a == 10) && ($b == 12)) return 15; // flaming

if (($a == 16) && ($b == 16)) return 13; // stinky
if (($a == 17) && ($b == 17)) return 14; // frozen
if (($a == 18) && ($b == 18)) return 15; // flaming

use indices 13 and 16 for stinkies, 15 and 18 for flaming.

Needless to say, either change the recipes to match the arrays or the arrays to match the recipes. --Temporary man 20:12, 6 February 2007 (CST)

The Sincerest Form of Flattery

So, I was totally all set to steal the completed skills chart from Nifty Nobu, but then I saw your revision from today. Looks like you cleaned it up and wikified it much like I had been plotting to do. Mind if I plagarize your version? Thank you. --DataVortex 14:22, 13 February 2007 (CST)

Vampire Bat

>>Is there a particular reason why you reverted my edit with the reason "fix up previous edit"?

What must have happened was I was editing the reference that you deleted. We both went to edit it at the same time, and you finished first, so your change showed up first. I then finished editing the part that you deleted, so it added the reference back in with the changes that I made. When I said that I was "fixing up the previous edit", I meant that I was fixing up the part that you ended up deleting, not that I was changing the edit you made, if that makes sense. Sorry about that. --Sevault 15:16, 27 February 2007 (CST)

  • Huh. Must've been a temporal rift or something - the wiki's had them before. --Quietust (t|c) 16:52, 27 February 2007 (CST)

Very sorry about the confusion with the Booze and Booze2 templates -- I realized my error quickly, but not before you'd gotten to it. Very sorry. --Lawrence Dark 16:54, 10 June 2006 (CDT)

In the Booze template history, you wrote: Old Ned: If you've ever paid attention in-game, it DOES tell you "You gain # Drunkenness." D'oh! I was thinking of the Food template, where we use the parens because the food value is not normally displayed. My bad. Thanks for your patience. -- Old Ned 00:18, 17 June 2006 (CDT)

What do you know about conditionals in templates? I'm playing with them and got them working from Template:Pulverize to Template:CallTest but can't quite figure them all out. I've found wikipedia documentation on the subject to be really cryptic. Right now I'm playing around on Template:Test and using equipment as an example to see what would happen, but since I'm basing it on wiki code gleaned from like 10 other templates, I haven't got it right. --LucySpace 01:58, 17 June 2006 (CDT)

  • I assume people put underscores in links because spaces arent't allowed in URLs. I've done it myself, although I'll try not to now I know it's not policy. Since the Wiki accepts it either way It's not the end of the world, though, is it? --Evilkolbot 02:02, 10 May 2006 (CDT)
    • It's a wonder i can tie my own shoelaces sometimes. They put underscores in links because that's what it links to. The page for "solid gold asshat" is called "Solid_gold_asshat" and the obvious link is solid gold asshat. People don't read standards, they work it out. I have a feeling that if you're going to make this a crusade you've a great deal of work on your hands. Good luck. --Evilkolbot 02:25, 10 May 2006 (CDT)
      • Technically, when you use to link to something, you're linking to the Name of the page, not the URL. Use [ ] to link a URL, generally one outside the wiki. Using [ ] to link a page in the wiki is considered bad style. Whenever possible, should be used, and no underscores are necessary, as it's the Namespace that's used to make the link, not the URL. To link to The Family Jewels page, the easy way (and the best, style-wise) is to just enclose the page's name in , like this: The Family Jewels. If you want to change the way the name is displayed, you can use a pipe: baby-making balls. To link it via the URL: [1]. To change the display text, just write that after the URL: those jewels again. --Echan 05:35, 27 May 2006 (CDT)

Since we were the creators of the KWE fight cards I wonder if you want to continue to maintain them? We have already missed the results of tournamnet 3 and I think we may have just missed 4 as well.....should we discontinue that section?--SomeStranger (Talk | Contribs) 05:50, 21 May 2006 (CDT)

  • I could help the restoration of these, if wanted, but an archive system on the kwe talk page, with only the most recent results showing would be of much beautification. I also am working on finding a way of incorporating images into plural without ruining the servers... any ideas would be appreciated.--Vimes177 17:00, 1 July 2006 (CDT)

No periods at the end of a page title? If that's the rule, ok, but I don't see any buggy behavior or reason why at the moment.--Dehstil 20:11, 24 May 2006 (CDT)

ha.. you were editing breathetastic about the wads right as i was editing it. i didnt wanna create a talk page for breathetastic so ill just post what i wrote as a "suggestion". Doesn't really matter but i felt i didnt want what i wrote that to go to waste. :P

  • With the introduction of the Pulverize skill, Twinkly and Elemental wads are now the third spleen item that gives adventures. Now that the astronaut ice-cream is unavailable, the Wads are the only spleen item that gives adventures other than Breathetastic™ Premium Canned Air.

Plural Template

For the 7 or so items in the game that are oddly capitalized I suggest we just put versions of them in the plural template that use incorrect lowercase capitalization so that we can just use lc: to make it all lowercase.--SomeStranger (t|c) 12:29, 28 June 2006 (CDT)

  • You mean lcfirst? like I originally had it? or completely lowercase?--Dehstil (t|c) 14:10, 28 June 2006 (CDT)
    • Now that I think about it, lcfirst: would be better. Then we could have the items that have capitals defined twice. Once with a capital and once without.--SomeStranger (t|c) 14:47, 28 June 2006 (CDT)
      • I'd prefer some means of catching singular names that aren't correctly capitalized, just so people capitalize them correctly everywhere. It wouldn't even be that difficult to do - just look up the plural form (which is done already), and if it returns "UNKNOWN ITEM" (or whatever it returns when you give it something it doesn't know), then just have it display an error for the singular form as well. This could probably be done within easily enough. The only side effect is that it would break a few people's user pages that use the Acquire template with items that don't exist in the game, but I really don't see that as a problem (since these templates aren't really meant to be used for non-game content anyways). --Quietust 15:19, 28 June 2006 (CDT)
  • I suggested once that new standards and stuff should be announced somewhere. Perhaps it could be done with the plural project.--Dehstil (t|c) 20:32, 29 June 2006 (CDT)

grab bag

The reason for my edit is this: a grabbag may contain 3 spices and zero of any other. So, how does a "1d4" - dice roll a zero? Written like this (again), it implies that u get a minimum of 1 of each item type(which of course contradicts "You will receive 3-5 items from each bag"). I vote for deleting or editing the formula, also because it implies a sort of mechanism that is not confirmed at all. --Tomthe3rd 18:02, 12 August 2006 (CDT)

  • Umm, clearly I didn't realize that the ascension was a softcore - I'll fix it. You know, it's customary to correct any obvious errors you see and not just leave the editor a note. By the same token, it's customary to discuss disputed edits and not to engage in edit wars. You seem to have the concept backwards. --Gymnosophist 15:51, 9 September 2006 (CDT)

Mushroom Uses

  • Since spore works as a recipe, I'm gonna go ahead and adjust the appropriate pages; mushrooms should at least mention what they breed into.--Dehstil (t|c) 16:53, 12 September 2006 (CDT)

On second thought, if I did that would I also have to do this:

Mushsprout.gif Knob mushroom Knob mushroom
Equals.gif Knob mushroom

No spoilers

You can remove it if you want, I don't know, I roughly equated it to the strange leaflet spoilers.--SomeStranger (t|c) 23:47, 19 September 2006 (CDT)

  • Okay it's gone. It was a bad idea. I should know better than to keep spoilers away...--SomeStranger (t|c) 23:52, 19 September 2006 (CDT)

The Haunted Library

I noticed that you made a significant change to The Haunted Library, one with the enigmatic summary of "cleanup". Evidently you weren't aware that the treatment of the Haunted Library choice adventure (and all choice adventures, for that matter) is being discussed . If you have some views on the matter, please contribute them to the discussion. In the meantime, I'll revert your edit pending some consensus on the issue. Thanks. --Gymnosophist 22:06, 28 September 2006 (CDT)

October 4

Re: Message with same name on my user discussion page

Oops. Sorry! I was just going by the news updates. (Didn't check yesterday)

"October 03 Starting tomorrow, the way the hermit doles out clovers has been ner... uh... enhanced. You'll see.

Also, there's a new mini-questy-type thing in the Manor somewhere."

If you knew what the reference was, then why didn't you add it?

I noticed your recent comments to Crowther and couldn't help but feel that some feedback was called for. Wikipedia, whose policies and procedures we try to adhere to in our own little way, has an official policy on Civility. I mention this because it seems, at least to me, that your Crowther comments were outside the bounds of civility. As you are an administrator here, I think that it's particularly incumbent on you, and indeed, on all administrators, to be governed by this Civility policy. I feel that I bear a certain responsibility here as I was one of those who voted to make you an administrator. I hope you'll take this as the constructive criticism that I intend it to be. It's my sincere hope that you'll put aside the fleering and that a kinder, gentler Quietust will soon be on display - after all, you can never have enough WikiLove! --Gymnosophist 01:17, 21 October 2006 (CDT)

User Page Error

When you say this: "I am quite aware that some people find these sorts of lists to be highly annoying..." annoying links to However, this has changed since you wrote that. This is now the correct link:

New wiki version

I am not sure if you noticed, but the wiki was upgraded and the click template broke. I temporarily patched it, but I have no real idea of how to fix it....maybe you do?--SomeStranger (t|c) 16:53, 25 October 2006 (CDT)

  • Oooh :) Nicely done!--SomeStranger (t|c) 16:58, 25 October 2006 (CDT)
    • I'm not entirely certain what caused it to break in the first place - all I did was revert it to its original state (from Phlip's last edit) and everything seems to be working fine now. --Quietust (t|c) 17:00, 25 October 2006 (CDT)

Skill Completion Chart

I love the skill chart on the very bottom of your user page. Would you mind if I steal it? --DataVortex 11:39, 2 November 2006 (CST)
