I've been observing the Observatory since it opened. As a backyard astronomer, I noticed right away that the moons Ronald and Grimace were not in the right positions to match their phases. So, I kept track of them to see if they were changing.
They didn't. The Sun and moons rise and set at the same times each day...
The Sun: 05:35 -- 19:35 KT Ronald: 21:35 -- 07:05 KT Grimace: 23:35 -- 09:05 KT
I came up with the term KT to stand for KoL Time. When the Observatory opened, it was Daylight Saving Time in the United States. I don't know if the Kingdom follows this stupid practice. KT is currently seven hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which means it is equivalent to US Pacific Daylight Saving Time (PDT).
I've created a graph of their locations. You can see it here. Each point along the graph is the movement in half-and-hour.
So, since the moons always maintain the same position in relation to the Sun, their phases are not due to their position. There must be some other source for the moons' phases, and since this is the Kingdom, it's prob'ly something magical.
