The problem I think most people are going to encounter with this skill distribution is that it's very easy to get overwhelmed and pick skills at random, which gets you nowhere.

Low-skill Jarlsberg isn't very much fun: you have no turn-generation. There is a huge potential to invest in skills that save turns, but don't provide turns. Here's my "guide" to selecting your first Jarlsberg skills in order, from first to (eventually) last:

(NOTE: This is opinion. I will provide my rationale, but this is ultimately entirely opinion and you should do what you want. As TVTropes puts it, "Your Mileage May Vary.")

Acquisition Number Skill Name Reasoning
1 Jarl boil.gif
Boil
Boil is first because it has a dual functionality -- it simultaneously gives you a good source of damage other than curdle and helps set you up to get Sublime stew, which is the best turn-generating item for starting avatars of Jarlsberg. Also, you start with three skill points, so this, Conjure Vegetables and Bake are pretty interchangeable.
2 Cosmic veg.gif
Conjure Vegetables
Conjure Vegetables: a decently skill early on. It'll provide the soup for your Sublime Stews, and help you generate more turns. You can also use it for Sauerkraut, which can help to fill your liver with Das Sauerlager.
3 Oven.gif
Bake
This is a combat skill, and a pretty weak one at that. It's rarely, if ever, worth spending a combat round to cast. On the other hand, though, it's awesome in the Cosmic Kitchen, as it's tied with Blend for the most food items make-able per skill at 4. Additionally, it's a prerequisite for all other skills in The Path of Dinner, so you've got no choice but to take it.
4 Cosmic potato.gif
Conjure Potato
Conjure Potato is excellent. It's required for Sublime Stew, is an ingredient in one of the epic foods available in the cosmic kitchen, and can eventually be used for 3 extra stats per combat and a weak levitating potato-equivalent. Enough said, really.
5 Cosmic meat.gif
Conjure Meat Product
The next step down the dinner path is Conjure Meat Product. Honestly, we're just getting it for Sublime Stew, which is the best acquirable item for turngen early on. Later on, it can be good for Loaded Baked Potato and Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich-making, as well.
6 Jarl grill.gif
Grill
There we have it -- Sublime Stew acquired! Sublime stew a 6-fullness "awesome" food -- both key and the best choice for generating turns. This is more than enough reason to get a combat skill that's far too expensive to be considered of any use.
7 Jarl neverlate.gif
Never Late for Dinner
This is a very powerful skill, and were Sublime stew not so incredibly important it would be gotten earlier on. +10 adventures per day means more accomplished in a day, and +50% combat initiative is a massive boon for those having difficulties surviving combats as Jarlsberg.
8 Numberone.gif
The Most Important Meal
Again, turn-generation is the single most important part of being an Avatar of Jarlsberg. Having awesome turn-saving skills won't do anything if you don't have the turns to save. The ability to "Gain a bunch more Adventures and stats from the first thing you eat each day" speaks for itself.
9 Ginsu.gif
Chop
A physical version of Boil. Not terribly powerful, but a prerequisite for the eventual Lunch Like a King, and thus necessary.
10 Jarl chop.gif
Slice
Slice is a 20 MP high damage combat skill that can be useful when Grill is too expensive to cast. In addition, it's a prerequisite for our much more important next skill.
11 Goldcrown.gif
Lunch Like a King
Double Turn generation! This'll let you eat an additional sublime stew per day, and 3 more filler food. Extremely powerful, and a must-have skill if you want to generate more turns.
12 Cosmic egg.gif
Conjure Eggs
Conjuring eggs is great -- more turns from the food you can make, is a prerequisite for better skills down the Path of Breakfast. In addition, you can use an egg for a staff that gives +10% items and can be jiggled for HP restoration.
13 Jarl eggman.gif
Egg Man
This one should be intuitively obvious: +50% items is powerful, and should save plenty of turns while questing.
14 Cosmic dough.gif
Conjure Dough
This'll get you a Staff of the Staff of Life, a powerful chefstaff whose jiggle will fully restore your health -- excellent for fighting the shadow. Moreover, dough will get you Passable Stouts, which should provide the means to stop drinking mediocre lager and das sauerlager altogether. (Though this isn't particularly relevant, as you'll be getting this at level 13.) Feel free to swap it with Conjure Fruit, if you want 5 full HP restores per day more than you want good booze.
15 Cosmic fruit.gif
Conjure Fruit
Fruit is good for making adequate rum. It's also a necessary evil/pre-requisite for some good skills down the dessert line.
16/17 Jarl revenge.gif
Best Served Cold/Snowflake.gif
Freeze
Until you've got six starting skills, this is about as good of a build as I can recommend. +100% spell damage is nice for killing things easier, and Freeze is a pre-req for our target: Blend. (Also, cold damage isn't "useless"!
18/19 Cosmic cream.gif
Conjure Cream/Jarl blend.gif
Blend
Conjuring Cream is totally useless at this point, honestly. It is, however, a pre-requisite for Blend. Blend is an equivalent of Entangling Noodles for Jarlsberg. Does any more need to be said, really?

For People beginning with 6 or more extra skill points, or 9+ total starting points. So, you're starting Jarlsberg with some familiarity. You have at least nine skill points to spend level one -- if you were interested in doing so, you could potentially get sublime stew turn 1. However, you're now at a point where stew is no longer going to be a staple. It's time for a turn-generation upgrade.

1 Jarl boil.gif
Boil
Boil is first because it has a dual functionality -- it simultaneously gives you a good source of damage other than curdle and helps set you up to get epic food, which'll be the new staple of your Jarlsberg runs.
2 Cosmic egg.gif
Conjure Eggs
Conjuring eggs is far more important now, as they're one of the four ingredients in your Ultimate Breakfast Sandwichs[sic].
3 Cosmic dough.gif
Conjure Dough
Early booze (freedom from mediocre lager, yay!), a HP restore staff later on, as well as an ingredient for an epic food. Yes, please.
4 Jarl fry.gif
Fry
A high-damage Sleaze spell. Honestly, we're just getting this because we have to. It will, at least, do double damage to hippies in the war.
5 Cosmic veg.gif
Conjure Vegetables
Conjuring Vegetables is exactly as decent as it was before, only now it's also a prerequisite for a bunch more things that we want.
6 Ginsu.gif
Chop
Useless, because you have Boil. Prerequisite, though.
7 Jarl chop.gif
Slice
This'll do a lot of damage for 20 MP, and by this point you can probably manage the MP regeneration required to cast it frequently for a net gain MP. It's pretty awesome.
8 Cosmic cheese.gif
Conjure Cheese
Hooray, yet another skill for our Ultimate Breakfast Sandwichs! Also, it'll provide melted cheese for use in nachojito consumption later in the run.
9 Oven.gif
Bake
Super weak combat skill that's a pre-req for everything else in the Path of Dinner. It'll let you melt cheese, I guess?
10 Cosmic potato.gif
Conjure Potato
Conjure Potato has a lot going for it: Acceptable Vodka.
11 Cosmic meat.gif
Conjure Meat Product
There we are! A super powerful skill, hooray! You can now summon and consume Ultimate Breakfast Sandwichs, a huge step up from the Sublime Stew of the days of old. In addition, you can get a staff of the all-steak with this, and who doesn't LOVE +300% item drop five times per day?
12 Numberone.gif
The Most Important Meal
Roughly +20 turns per day and a lot more stats -- these stats will help get you to the next level and thus increase the likelihood of acquiring the next skill day one.
13 Goldcrown.gif
Lunch Like a King
Another Breakfast Sandwich is +36 turns per day. Do I really need to explain this one?
14 Jarl neverlate.gif
Never Late for Dinner
+10 turns per day, and a ton of +initiative to make combat much easier.
15 Jarl eggman.gif
Egg Man
As I said before, "This one should be intuitively obvious: +50% items is powerful, and should save plenty of turns while questing."
16 Clock.gif
Early Riser
This skill is now a powerful one worth getting. Extra summoned cosmic items means that you should have even less trouble filling all of your fullness/booze, and is honestly just really convenient in general.
17 Cosmic fruit.gif
Conjure Fruit
Adequate Rum, Ho! You can now make Nachojitos and Over Easy Riders. Good Booze get!
18 Snowflake.gif
Freeze
Cold version of Boil. Pretty "Meh," in my opinion, it's another one of those prerequisites.
19 Cosmic cream.gif
Conjure Cream
Woo-Hoo, Cream! Who doesn't love cream? In case you just said "I don't!", you'll be pleased to know that the Staff of the Cream of the Cream gives +30 moxie. You can ALSO jiggle your creamy staff to Know opponents. Knowing (with a capital K) your opponents through the act of creamfaction will make them much more likely to appear. So yeah, this is pretty powerful.
20 Jarl blend.gif
Blend
Entangling Noodles, but for Jarlsberg. Do I even need to explain this one?
21 Jarl grill.gif
Grill
This is the last skill you'll pick up this run. Honestly, it's just good for killing the final boss.

For People beginning with 11/12 (ridiculous) or more extra skill points, or 14+ total starting skill points. So, this is a guide meant for Hardcore. If you used a soul fragment, switch over here at 11 points. Otherwise, switch over at 12. There comes a time in every Jarlsberg's life where turn generation is so guaranteed that he needs to diversify his talents and move from simply saving turns to cutting turns.

Never Late for Dinner
+10 turns per day, and a ton of +initiative to make combat much easier.
15 Cosmic fruit.gif
Conjure Fruit
I did say that we'd be nabbing some different skills this run (or at least, in a different order). Fruit means rum, good booze, and gets us closer to Chocolatesphere.
16 Snowflake.gif
Freeze
As I said in the last guide, "Meh." Pre-req, though.
17 Cosmic cream.gif
Conjure Cream
+30 Moxie chefstaff, creamfaction, and also probably some other stuff: cream is awesome.
18 Jarl creampuff.gif
Cream Puff
FluffyCuddle has been my faithful companion in a majority of Jarlsberg runs, and now it's time for him to serve that role for you: +ML means faster leveling (if you can survive it), and gets us a step closer to Chocolatesphere. Also it's cute.
19 Jarl choco.gif
Chocolatesphere
Yay, Chocolatesphere! -15% combat frequency is huge, so you need to get it early: this guide gets you it at level 6, which is the first place that it really matters. It'll save turns in the copse, the cyrpt, not really anywhere in level 8, I guess, but whatever, Twin Peak, the airship and castle, all sorts of places in level 11, the war, and nowhere in level 13. The point is that it's powerful, saves a ton of turns, and you should have it. So now you do!
20 Jarl eggman.gif
Egg Man
+50% items. Intuitive, and awesome for saving questing turns.
21 Clock.gif
Early Riser
+1 Food Conjuration is huge. You've already eaten day 1, so this is being placed at level 8 -- probably gotten near the start of day 2, when you can still use it. If you don't think you can get Early Riser before conjuring and eating your food, swap it with Egg Man. Seriously.
22 Jarl blend.gif
Blend
Entangling Noodles is awesome. This'll make surviving much, much easier.
23 Jarl revenge.gif
Best Served Cold
+100% Spell damage is pretty excellent, and I highly recommend it.
24 Sleepy.gif
Food Coma
This is really just for convenience. I like 10 free rests + other stuff.
25 Jarl coffee.gif
Coffeesphere
This'll be useful for the Lobsterfrogmen, and honestly next to nothing else. Still, though, I recommend it for that alone.
26 Jarl grill.gif
Grill
To quote the last guide: "Honestly, it's just good for killing the final boss."
Note: If you do, in fact, have 12 skills, I HIGHLY recommend swapping out Food Coma for Grill + Gristlesphere. Monster Level saves turns!
