Crucial Clues for Trophy 68

Summary of Hints: This is something that is very, very easy to do, can be done by a new account on the first day, and involves typing a pop culture reference into the interface.

When trying to spade Trophy 68, remember the following hints given on the radio show on 2/16/09 by Jick:

Q: New account get it on first day? J: Yes

Full list of given hints

  • it was rolled out with NS13.
  • it's not the kind of thing you can be "close to getting" (no counter in database)
  • it's a pop-culture reference
  • it's easy to do (Jick quote + CDMoyer was qualifying for it on radio in a minute)
  • however, can be screwed up (CDMoyer screwed it up when tried on the radio but confirmed afterwards that it actually was his mistake rather than trophy not working)
  • "you have to use some part of the interface and do something" (CDMoyer quote)
  • a new account can get it on their first day
  • a player in Hardcore or BadMoon can get it
  • it doesn't have to do with numbers 11, 23 or 37
  • the number of the trophy itself (#68 ) doesn't have to do with anything
  • HotStuff wants to give a clue, but not until they add more trophies to the game
  • CDMoyer confirmed typing that happened during the attempt to get trophy. (possibly trophy is related to places requiring typing: notes, the mall, account, messages, chat, graffiti wall, pvp, the strange leaflet, familiar names, profile, and summoning chamber).
--Hrag 16:07, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

I would also remind people that TPTB are very much against spoilers, so that will rule out anywhere a player could stumble across it (ie, the mall, the wall, familiar names, profile). --James111222 19:00, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Uh, i might be totally wrong here, but when CDMoyer tested it, there were a buttload of chat commands out i think right? so some of that key work could be him typing chat commands such as /equip or /go or /cook etc. right?--Coolness 21:14, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

From the June 11th radio show, "Q: Can you get trophy 68 without completing the altar of literacy? J: Yes. Actually it's impossible to get the trophy if you have completed the quest" --->I'm going to hope that Jick is making a joke. --Sparksol (t|c) 22:18, 13 June 2009 (UTC) --->Yes, this was a joke, do not consider the comment to have been a hint Stickiepants 22:52, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Let's have a list of places where people can type and pros and cons for each.

  • the mall: store keeper dialog: cons: very visible

Remember to be case sensitive Stickiepants 23:05, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

You forgot the Gift Shop; going to the back room, you can write notes/send items. Pros: Private, doesn't cost much meat Lady Oolong 01:01, 20 June 2009 (UTC) Didnt they decide that anything can be gotten on the first day as long as it does require multi day operations (bounty hunt outfit and higher, olfaction tome, pompedour, combo of multiple bounty items, limited time non-tradables etc.)or more than 300 adventures to qualify for it? Help from experienced players counts as first day, and they didnt say first day of leaflet could be gotten day 1--Coolness 20:51, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

  • Did variations of "Worst. Update. Ever." and "Best. Update. Ever." Also, "NS13 Sucks.", "NS13 Rules."...such as that. No dice. Also, no trophy. I still wonder if it isn't a reward (or punishment) for complimenting or complaining about the update. --Dram 17:01, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

  • Sending 419 messages in a day? That could be done by a new account. --Plater (t|c) 16:56, 23 April 2009 (UTC) Do you really think the powers that be would want that kind of spamage going on? --Club (#66669) (Talk)

Gift Shop

  • Several variations on the theme "Dick In a Box" (from the song: 1: cut a hole in the box, 2, put your dick in the box, 3, make her open the box). However 3 remains untested untill the person I sent stuff to leaves HC. Uses the <3 shaped box, "Dick" on the note, various item combos including WANGs, plot holes, etc. Details here. Ideas tried that do not fit the clues

  • Has anyone tried visiting the trophy hut with*1337 orcs: Spend 1337 adventures in the Valley Beyond the Orc Chasm. (Can't be done first day. --Club (#66669) (Talk))
  • What about the old leaflet? It involved typing and such. --Gruegirl 05:35, 13 June 2009 (UTC) --->That already has a trophy, an item and a permable skill, so quite a lot for a little side-thing like that. Plus you'd have to make it to level 9 on the first day, which is a bit of an ask. --Phelyan 07:47, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Could it be sending someone a Wang in a (less-than-three-shaped) box? (I can't test this at the moment; in Ronin). --TheArchivist 20:25, 21 May 2009 (UTC) -->>Tried in a plain brown wrapper and a less-than-three-shaped box. No go. --Club (#66669) (Talk)
  • Serious housing downgrade: something better than an Instant House being replaced with a Newbiesport tent. Maybe in hardcore. Sandcastle -> Newbiesport in causal yeilds nothing. --Club (#66669) (Talk) (Doesn't require typing. --Valliant 22:52, 15 March 2009 (UTC))
  • Support the habit: Buying 1000 goofballs in a single ascension, so that the last one costs a million meat by itself. (Unlikely, as it would cost just short of 500 million meat.)
  • Suport the habit V2 (by Ironcheff :P): Do an entire run constantly hopped up on goofballs. Needs to be tried in all types of runs (SC, HC, HCO, BM etc)
    • Problem: Trophy is supposed to be available on day 1.
  • Bad Moon familiars - Hatch a rare familiar in bad moon or bad moon Terrarium weight? (Can't be done on day 1 with a new character. --Valliant 22:52, 15 March 2009 (UTC))
  • Rocky Horror - Using a grue as familiar, equipped with a tiny plastic sweet nutcracker, having the black tongue effect active and adventuring in the Tropical Paradise Island Getaway until you get the adventure "With just 7MP, I can make you a man" (doesn't require typing. --Valliant 22:52, 15 March 2009 (UTC))
  • incredibly unskilled: Purchase no skills for an entire BM run. (Can't be done on day 1 with a new character. --Valliant 22:52, 15 March 2009 (UTC))

  • Spend the entire first day of a run resting (Doesn't require typing. --Valliant 22:52, 15 March 2009 (UTC))

Attempting to buy some number of items from The Market or the Hermitage. I'd guess 42, perhaps? --Morgoth1145 00:55, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

  • Has anyone tried to ascend a brand new account in one day? Is that even possible?--MCScaredOfBees 12:52, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
    • Yes, it can be done with a generous sponsor. Keep in mind that it can't be done in Bad Moon though and this trophy can be gained in bad moon. --Bale 06:18, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  • Has anyone tried getting 100, 500, or 1000 turns of Gothy and then using a Warm Subject gift certificate for the first(or multiple) time that ascension? What about in HC/HCO/BM?--Mrmongoose 05:24, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Also attempted just in case: completely clearing out one mining spot at the Itznotyerzitzmine.--Sparksol (t|c) 20:51, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

  • Offered 11 Amulet of Yendor at The Altar of Literacy. Nothing. --Shoptroll 22:29, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

assorted chatter 2011

has anyone tried getting one of every AA card in their DC and going to trophy hut?--Demonblades 02:19, 28 July 2011 (CEST)

Have any of the players who have been on KOL for 7 years tried donning all seven anniversary items at once? --Stonecat 2:07, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

It'd make more sense to check for a player in year 8, since that gets the hat, shirt, main/off, pants, and three accessories (Year eight is Anniversary balsa wood socks). I've done up to 7 personally, and just equipped everything I have, with no success. --InvalidUser 13:20, 31 July 2011 (CEST)

There are new AT, DB, SC and S in the nemesis quests,so far all classes have parallel rewards from the quests. To maintain the parity of the classes, there should be a P and TT trophy for using the nemesis quest skills in a way that covers all skill and combinations if combinations apply. --MadonKody 18:30, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

For TT: A Little Help From My Friends. Don't know the acquisition method. --TimRem 13:04, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm guessing it's a certain number of guard turtles freed, judging by the whip and the turtle in the trophy image. I'm currently in a TT ascension, I'll test out a few things. --Coogi Hat 11:37, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
This is just a ballpark shot, but maybe this has to do with the turtle taming effect. maybe there is a new adventure there?--Icon315 13:00, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
It seems to be unofficially discovered that the TT nemesis trophy is awarded for gaining the Cold-Blooded Warm Fuzzies effect an unknown number of times. I think I've gotten it at least 10 times at this point (probably more, but I'm guessing conservatively) with no trophy. --Psy 22:35, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
  • You need to get it 30 times. --CG1:t,c,e 01:38, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
  • So following your logic, we have yet to find a PM trophy. I'm not the greatest spader ever but I'm a PM and yet to do the nemesis quest, so I could have a poke around and see if their is anything significant that would be suitable for a trophy. --LordKass 21:20, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
  • For #93 - What about the opposite of OCD? Do it in reverse order? --EvilBear 22:19, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

No trophy for doing a 100% Kung Fu run in HC. Checked after killing NS, but before breaking prism, then checked after breaking prism. --RoyalTonberry 06:52, 19 January 2011 (UTC). Confirmed this after transfunctioner was made into an accessory, following the 'Hiiiiii-ya!' reference. --Noims 15:39, 13 July 2011 (CEST)

  • On a recent radio show Jick said there were 2 trophies (*cough* 9 trophies *cough*) that hadn't been discovered, and that one of them is supposed to be pretty easy to get and has been around awhile. Wouldn't hurt for someone to listen through again and see if both of those things were supposed to be about the same trophy. Presumably the hammer trophy is one of those two. It had made it to the wiki before that radio show, but I'm not sure if they had checked if it had been found yet before talking about trophies. --Flargen 07:14, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
  • Someone in the forums mentioned running away from your nemesis in the order SC>TT>PM>S>DB>AT. Seems easy enough and a logical trophy to follow the previous one. Any confirmation if this works or not?--Alfredo Boyardee 16:49, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
  • I have heard from a reliable source (which shall remain unnamed here) that trophy #95 was introduced at the time of the Tavern revamp. Hmm... --Pineapple of Despair 09:59, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
  • Jick said on the 2011/03/14 Radio Show that it was very simple and "based on the time it was rolled out, I would think it would have been obvious what it was."--Stufff 04:25, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
    • Maybe the The Pool Table? Winning against all 3 opponents? Winning X times? Losing X times? Playing for X adventures?--Icon315♕ (|) 20:02, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
      • I can give that a shot after rollover. Probably something silly like winning 10,000 Meat or some such. --RoyalTonberry 20:29, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
      • Got it, it's sitting in my profile. Very easy to get. I'm with Jick, surprised no one else got it. --RoyalTonberry 05:34, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
        • Cool. I'm guessing it's related to the tavern pool table from the image, in which case I'm not surprised no one else got it. That's one of the most opaque and unattractive mechanics in the game. And I'm not expecting to get this trophy any time soon without some significant spoilerage on how that stuff works. --Flargen 05:47, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

I tried fighting 100 faucet rats, no trophy. If someone wants to see if fighting 1000 does it, go for it!  :) --Starwed 23:23, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

As of this date you get no trophy for having a 1,005 lb. terrarium, stocking mimic excluded, as expected. Was worth the attempt and hopefully this documentation. --MadonKody 02:22, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure TPTB have in the past said that there will be no higher familiar weight trophies. Which is a good thing, as that 1000 lbs must have been a hefty bit of doing (with some rather useless familiars, hehe). --Lordebon 04:12, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

  1. eat a 35-fullness s'more
  2. kill one of every moon-creature --Evilkolbot 21:56, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
  • Yes people are going to spend the next 3 years on a single ascension for a trophy. I'm wondering about using all the astral equipment from the Pet Shop, actually.--Toffile 23:38, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
    • Well, the distention pill makes it take 80 days less to hit 35, and makes the new max 36 (assuming the pill works on s'mores). --Flargen 03:19, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
      • in the s'more thread on the forums (which i can't read right now,) there's one or more players doing that very thing. not for the trophy, but because they can. --Evilkolbot 11:15, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
I tried eating four Nuclear Blastballs per the pen pal letter, but not only are they not multiusable, single using them and stacking the effect past 50 turns breaks the damage formula entirely, making the skill cause %dmg damage. :P --Shadowlynk 02:15, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
  • I have two ideas: BHY in each class (I'm on my fourth run so far, it's possible someone has already disproven that idea); and accumulate some large amount of Karma in Valhalla, I'm working -- slowly -- on that with a multi. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 02:39, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
    • I just need to do a TT run to complete the HC set. If it was a "one of every class", it's possible you'd have to do them in order, like the nemesis trophy, which I haven't done. --Flargen 03:15, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
  • I just forgot to test this in run... but what about taking 100%+ of damage from having b's equipped. Is it even possible between equipment and familiar equipment to have 10+ b's on at the same time?
    • I know someone who spent a few adventures in full brimstone to see this happen, and they didn't report a trophy. It's entirely possible they didn't check, though. --Flargen 23:57, 25 June 2011 (CEST)
      • Yeah, just realised i killed the Naughty Guy made of bee's, but didnt break prisim. Tested with 16, 10, and 11 b's equiped. Also got defeated 11 times by b equipment. No trophy --Darkwolf 01:45, 26 June 2011 (CEST)
  • Dunno why, but given the recent trophies to way of surprising fist, this one is most definitely related to bhy. I can state for a fact that it's not for crafting the entire set of honey things in a run, or hardcore, because I've done that twice and no trophy. Since bees hate you, maybe it's related to killing a set number of bees, or killing a specific number of each bee (like the dungeons of doom one) or killing a number while in bee-disguise? just wondering. • Could be something like "kill 11 of each type of Bee in BHY" --RoyalTonberry 04:04, 30 August 2011 (CEST)
      • That's what I figured. Here's hoping someone spades this out! Argus 22:59, 30 August 2011 (CEST)
  • I never noticed you could fight bees while falling down drunk. Anyone tried some excessive drunken boxing? (in a row?!) --Lizardking 23:56, 31 August 2011 (CEST)

Way of the fist runs

There is no trophy for getting all of the nun's meat on a way of the fist run. (Bummer) --Plater (t|c) 16:47, 2 September 2011 (CEST)
