trendy bugbear chef You're fighting a trendy bugbear chef

This bugbear has been tasked to find a diet that will sustain a bugbear invading force, preferably while increasing their battle-readiness and viciousness. So the chef developed a "neanderbear" diet, which seeks to replicate what hunter/gatherer bugbears ate aeons ago back on Entomursus Prime, the Bugbear home world. The recipes involve a lot of twigs, gravel, and rotting fruit and vegetables, so the chef fits right in at the hippy camp.

Hit Message(s):

She hits you over the head with a ladle. You feel a soupcon of pain. Ouch! Eek! Ooh! Ouch!

She throws a handful of twigs and gravel at you. Turns out tiny sticks and tiny stones only bruise bones. Ouch! Oof! Ow! Ugh!

She throws some of her cooking at you. The sauces sting your eyes, but at least you didn't get any in your mouth. Oof! Oof! Oof! Ooh!

She stabs you with a roasting fork. You squeal like a piggie. Eek! Ugh! Oof! Eek!

Critical Hit Message:

She rallies a few cavebugbears to attack you. There's more grunting and hooting than you'd hear at a funk concert in an owlery, and a whole lot more bones breaking. Ow! Oof! Ugh! Argh!

Miss Message(s):

She threatens you with a ladle, but it doesn't even scare you a ladle bit.

She starts to throw some gravel at you, but you grovel before her so she doesn't.

She throws some of her cooking at you, but you deftly dodge the food missiles.

She tries to stab you with a roasting fork, but you tell her to fork off.

Fumble Message:

She has to stop and prepare a meal for the bugbear invasion army. An army marches on its stomach, you know -- or at least they do if they don't watch where they're going. (FUMBLE!)

  • The "Neanderbear diet" is a reference to the "Neanderthal diet."
  • The name "Entomursus" more or less means "bugbear": entomology is the study of insects and "ursus" is Latin for bear.
