To Catch a Killer
A short distance down the hallway, a figure steps out from around the corner. The bartender? No... <It's a woman, and she's/He's> not wearing a red jacket -- <she's/he's> dressed in a black suit, just like your own. <She/He> turns to face you.
It's like looking into a mirror.
<She/He> stares at you for a moment as a cold shiver runs down your spine, then <she/he> turns around and walks back around the corner.
Pursue your double |
- With more than +40% Combat Initiative:
You quickly walk down the hall and turn the corner to see the doppelgänger striding briskly away. You pick up the pace to catch up with her, but it's evident that she has no intention of being caught. Soon the two of you are running full-tilt down the Lodge's corridors, sprinting around corners, clattering staccato footsteps echoing on the black and white zig-zag tile.
You race around one corner, then another. Your double ducks through a gap in some red curtains, and you follow her through, across an empty room, through another curtain, down another corridor...
You're gaining on her, slowly but surely. Eyes narrowed, teeth gritted, you're determined to put a stop to this once and for all. You've found the clues. You've seen enough. You know who the killer is. This ends now.
You launch yourself at your twin, grabbing her around the waist and bringing her down in a diving tackle. All the lights in the hotel strobe wildly, and then cut to black.

You quickly walk down the hall and turn the corner to see the doppelgänger striding briskly away. You pick up the pace to catch up with <her/him>, but it's evident that <she/he> has no intention of being caught. Soon the two of you are running full-tilt down the Lodge's corridors, sprinting around corners, clattering staccato footsteps echoing on the black and white zig-zag tile.
You race around one corner, then another. Your double ducks through a gap in some red curtains, and you follow <her/him> though[sic], across an empty room, through another curtain, down another corridor...
You're starting to pant. Your legs are burning. How long as this been going on? You don't seem any closer to catching <her/him> than you were at the beginning.
And then you turn one more corner and skid to a halt. The corridor dead-ends at an elevator, and your double is nowhere in sight. Surely you would have heard the elevator, if <she'd/he'd> escaped that way? You weren't that far behind. You hammer on the call button anyway.
The elevator doors open with a ding, spilling a wave of crimson blood into the hallway in slow-motion. No, wait... this isn't slow motion, the blood is just unusually thick and sluggish.
As you stare, baffled, the wave washes over you. Oh good grief, it isn't blood, it's cherry pie filling.
You stumble back down the hall, coughing, wiping the delicious muck out of your eyes and hair. When you look back up, you're in the hedge maze again, because sure, that's all you needed.
God, this suit is ruined.
Leave the hotel |
You decide to get out of this place before things get any weirder. They don't pay you enough to deal with these Blue Rose cases.
...Wait, nobody pays you anything. And what's a "Blue Rose case"?
Man, as soon as you get off this mountain, you're gonna track down the world's least spooky bartender, and you're gonna make him a wealthy man.
- Occurs after selecting "Wait -- who's that?" at Lost in the Great Overlook Lodge.
Notes
Successfully tracking down your twin and then leaving will grant completion of Twin Peaks for the Orc Chasm Quest.
