- Before activation:
- You approach the stone mariachis.
- They sit motionless on their pedestals. Looks like you'll need to find some way of activating them.
- After activation, but before courtyard is open:
- Without pedestal triggers:
- Each of the three mariachis sits on a stone pedestal with a large slot cut in it.
- You have nothing to put into the first pedestal.
- You have nothing to put into the second pedestal.
- You have nothing to put into the third pedestal.
- The mariachis continue to stand motionless. You give up and wander off.
- With pedestal triggers
- The stone tablet marked "Sinister Strumming" slides easily into the slot in the first pedestal.
- The stone tablet marked "Squeezings of Woe" fits perfectly in the second slot.
- The stone tablet marked "Really Evil Rhythm" clicks into place in the third slot.
- Without proper instruments:
- You have no instrument to give to the first stone mariachi.
- You have no instrument to give to the second stone mariachi.
- You have no instrument to give to the third stone mariachi.
- The mariachis continue to stand motionless. You give up and wander off.
- With proper instruments:
- You place your <instrument> in the first mariachi's hands.
- You place your <instrument> in the second mariachi's hands.
- You place your <instrument> in the third mariachi's hands.
- The mariachis begin to play a sinister song. As the song's tempo increases, a rumbling begins, deep beneath the ground. As the mariachis reach a dire crescendo (Hey, have you heard my new band, Dire Crescendo?) the gate behind the statues slowly grinds open, revealing the way to the Sorceress' courtyard.
- You gather up your instruments and make ready.
- After courtyard is open:
- They're done playing, the gate is open, and there's no reason to mess with them anymore.

Notes
- A list of items that can be used to pass the Stone Mariachis can be found in the description of the Naughty Sorceress Quest.
References
- The "Dire Crescendo" may be a play off of a decrescendo, a musical term for a series of notes becoming gradually softer; whereas a crescendo is a series becoming gradually louder.
