The Nearby Plains

The Nearby Plains are located right in the middle of the Kingdom of Loathing.

The areas that can be found here include:

• Cobb's Knob
• The Suburbs of Dis (with the Dis Abled effect)
• The Ruins of Fernswarthy's Tower
• Degrassi Knoll (for non-Knoll signs only)
  • friendly Degrassi Knoll (for Knoll signs only)
• The "Fun" House
• The Misspelled Cemetary
• The Palindome (with a Talisman o' Namsilat equipped)
• A Temporal Rift (for ascended characters of levels 4 or 5)/A Small, Bright Light (for unascended characters of levels 4 or 5)/A Scorch Mark (for all characters of all other levels)
• The Bat Hole
• The Rabbit Hole (with the effect Down the Rabbit Hole)
• The Beanstalk
• The Spectral Pickle Factory (on rare occasions)
• The Luter's Grave (on the Avatar of Boris challenge path)
• An Unsettling Abyssal Portal (during the Infernal Incursion)
• A Terrifying Abyssal Portal (during the Infernal Incursion)
• Shadow Rift (starting from February 11, 2023)

• At the beginning of the level 10 quest, the plains get filled with garbage.

History

• On January 24, 2007, Fernswarthy's Tower crumbled into The Ruins of Fernswarthy's Tower.

• On April 1, 2008, The Spectral Salad Factory appeared in the same location where The Spectral Pickle Factory sometimes appears. It disappeared on the very next day.

• On August 31, 2010, Bigg's Dig and Bigg's Tent appeared. The dig disappeared on September 6, 2010, and the tent disappeared on September 15, 2010.

• On May 10, 2011, during the Valhalla Invasion, The A. W. O. L. Camp appeared. It disappeared on May 16, 2011.

• On June 12, 2012, a series of brushfires broke out on the plains.

• On June 14, 2012, the FDKOL Requisitions Tent appeared in the same location where the Portal to Dis normally appears.

• On June 16, 2012, some of the fires burnt out, leaving behind scorched earth, while others themselves grouped into A Super-Intense Mega-Grassfire. Susie moved her arena to the Right Side of the Tracks.

• On June 19, 2012, the fires continued to evolve, with some of them becoming Fierce Flying Flames; in addition, the brushfires burned out, while the Super-Intense Mega-Grassfires multiplied.

• On June 22, 2012, Lord Flameface's Castle and An Ominous Message appeared. On July 2, 2012, all of the fire event-related locations disappeared, and the plains grew bigger and reconfigured themselves.

• On September 27, 2013, A Terrifying Abyssal Portal and An Unsettling Abyssal Portal opened.
• On June 2nd, 2015, The Misspelled Cemetary was worked out to be a zone on itself, and The Cyrpt was moved to it.
