The Investigation Thrillingly Concludes!
RE: Missing: Fancy Man
In the deepest, darkest section of the mine, you find a skeleton half-buried beneath a rockslide. From the fanciness of its now-ruined duds, you can only conclude that it is the skeleton of Jeff the Fancy Dude.
Poor guy. He had his whole... wait. Is he... moving? Is he... clawing his way out from under the rubble? Is he... looking down where his nose used to be at the shabbiness of your clothes? That undead jerk!

RE: Help! Desperados!
After wandering through the mine for ages, you finally find the tunnel that leads to Pecos Dave's hideout, which is about as nice as an abandoned mine tunnel hideout can be made. You wouldn't've wanted to be one of the henchmen who had to carry that leather couch all this way through those tunnels. "Hey!" Pecos Dave shouts. "Who in tarnation are you?"
"The Law," you drawl. "You comin' quietly?"
"Hell no!"
"Good." |

RE: Missing: Pioneer Daughter
You make it to what used to be the General's office of the fort. You can only assume that Daisy would have set up shop there, for symbolic reasons if not practical ones.

RE: Big Gambling Tournament Announced
You kick in the door to Snake-Eyes' suite, and not-unexpectedly find him waiting for you with a pistol in one hand and rattling a pair of dice in the other. "There's always one who don't know when to fold," he sneers at you.
"Let's just say I'm callin' your bluff, Snake-Eyes. ...What's with the dice? Thought you said you're a poker player."
"Used'ta be a dice man, years ago," he grins. "Gave it up. After all, it's just playin' a game. In poker, you get to play the players. Still an' all, I like to keep a hand in. You lookin' to try your luck?"
"You shoulda known better than to call yerself after a losing throw, Snake-Eyes," you growl. "Since you changed games though, maybe we'll call you 'Busted Flush' after I'm done here."

RE: Haunted Boneyard
You thought you'd seen everything, but as you enter the tomb's final burial chamber, you encounter a bunch of cultists (cowltists? They are wearing hoods after all) chanting and waving their arms and a huge moomy covered in weird jewelry that makes your eyes hurt, and a crown that you can't even stand to look directly at. As the chanting reaches a crescendo, the moomy suddenly stands up, and with a roar it impales two of the cultists on its horns. The remaining cultists run away screaming, not even taking any notice of you.
You definitely ain't never seen anything like that.
And then it turns its attention on you |

RE: Sheriff Wanted
Well, you've defeated all but one of the Placid Lake Gang, which means the one guy in front of you is probably the leader. You draw your weapon and walk up to him.
"Surrender peacefully," you say, "and there won't be any violence."
"Ain't that what the sissy philosopher fellas from back east refer to as a tautology?" he counters. "If there isn't any violence, there won't be any violence?"
"Shut your piehole and give up!" you retort.
"On whose authority, may I ask?" he re-retorts.
"The Sheriff of Breadwood, that's whose authority." |

RE: Madness at the Mine
You find the door, and seeing it makes you feel franticcalm. You're repulsedthrilled by the prospect of seeing what's on the other side.
The key slides into the keyhole. You have trouble turning it at first, because you didn't know things could turn that direction. But the lock unlocks, and the door slides into the ground. The hallway behind it is perfectly square, perfectly smooth stone. You step forward, screamingfascinated. And then you see something.
What is THAT? |

RE: Missing: Many Children
You have reached, as near as you can tell, the center of Cowtown. It's like the eye of a hurricane, except instead of being perfectly calm, it's just perfectly dark.

RE: Wagon Train Escort Wanted
With most of the Hackleton clan scattered and running or being collared by the sheriff's men that showed up soon after the fighting started, it's just down to you and Granny. "Make this easy and give yourself up, Granny," you say. She laughs at you. "You think you got this sewed up just coz I'm an old woman in a wheelchair?" she says. "Think again, kid! I got you outnumbered all by myself!"
She tosses aside the blanket covering her knees and pulls a lever on the side of her wheelchair, and a crank-powered gatling gun flips into place with a clang.
