Starship Initiative :: In your Quarters

The first time you arrive in your quarters

"Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Initiative. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before."

With that out of the way, you being to wonder why all these red lights are flashing and someone is repeating, "Captain <player>, please report to the bridge at once."

You are in the Captain's quarters.

It has been <n> minutes since you first heard the red alert.

You are holding a flute/a visor/a phaser/a tricoder/<booze>.
You are an adequate computer user/able programmer/amazing hacker.
You are an adequate/able/amazing flautist.
You are an adequate/able/amazing ship's gunner.
You are adequate/able/amazing with a phaser.

Wait a minute

Play the flute for a while

You play the flute for a while. This post-scarcity future world really gives you time to work on your hobbies.

You feel like a noticeably better floutist.

This action takes 1 minute

Each time you play the flute, your skill improves and it shows your skill under the alert message.

  1. You are an adequate floutist.
  2. You are an able floutist.
  3. You are an amazing floutist.

Use the visor

You put the visor over your eyes and examine your Quarters. It's as though you are reading rainbow colored output of everything's energy emissions. Far out. This gets boring after about a minute.

Access the computer

If you haven't taken the computer training

"Computer?" Huh, it doesn't respond.

If you have taken the computer training at least one time

> ./WTRs\ PROGRAM

Hello World!

If you have taken the computer training at least three times

Execute "ssh Computron.ship"
> ssh Computron.ship

Spacenix Computron.ship 5.3.2-x86_4096 Stardate 42:21:31:56:3211

Welcome to Spacenix!

> ls

nav_howto.txt resume.pdf selfie.jpg

> cat nav_howto.txt

Navigation is simple.

execute: navigate --quadrant=alpha --warp=1 --coords=11,41,24

> navigate --quadrant=epsilon --warp=10 --cords=11,37,42

> logout

Over the ship's com, you hear, "Admiral, the hostile ship has changed course and sped off towards the epsilon sector."
After returning to stardock, there is a grand parade and an awards ceremony; after all, you did resolve the situation without loss of life!
Just as your commanding officer is pinning a second medal to your uniform, you feel yourself being pulled back from the future.
"Well," you think, "at least I have the memory of earning <n> medals in the future."

You earn 2 medals in the future for this solution

Leave Computer

Use the Replicator

Go to sleep

You've had enough of this future craziness. You lay down in the bed and drift off.

...

...

You find yourself abrubtly returned to the present.

"Well," you think, "that could have gone better. At least I have the memory of earning X medals in past futures."
