You reach The Boss Bat's Lair by entering The Bat Hole from The Nearby Plains. The Bat Hole becomes available through The Council of Loathing. Check out the Boss Bat Quest for more information.

To unlock this area you must knock down three walls, by any combination of Screambat fights and using sonars-in-a-biscuit, obtainable in any other area in The Bat Hole apart from the Entrance.

The exact mechanism behind the Boss Bat encounter is unknown, but it is known that the current minimum number of bodyguards is 4 (disputed: see talk page), and that the bodyguards and the bat both act as normal monsters (that is, obeying the queue).

A primary stat of 13 is suggested. If your main stat isn't high enough, you'll see the following message:

You should not be here.
(It is recommended that you have at least 13 <mainstat> to adventure here.)

Notes

  • The Boss Bat can appear after 4, 5 or 6 adventures (assigned randomly each turn) have been spent in the zone.
  • The Boss Bat is treated as a normal encounter, meaning that its appearance respects Adventure Queue, and that it is possible to Macrometeorite a bodyguard into the Boss Bat.
  • Because of the variable delay, attempting to Macrometeorite into a Boss Bat can fail, and then aborting the combat (through Rollover runaway or Using the Force) can cause it to succeed on the next attempt, without any additional delay burn.
  • After defeating the Boss Bat, this area can no longer be adventured in. Attempting to do so yields the message:
The Boss Bat has been slain, and his lair is as silent as a very, very silent thing.
  • Using the Last Adventure link after defeating the Boss Bat yields the message:
You shouldn't be here.
