Visiting here before visiting the Fishing Village (does not consume an adventure):
Cautiously keeping out of sight, you make your way closer to the fort/barracks/stronghold/whatever it is you call this building that Lopez's henchmen are occupying. The medium-largish adobe building is surrounded by a tall smooth wall, also made of adobe, which looks pretty much unclimbable -- not without crampons and a lot of noise, anyway.
Several mariachis are slouching around the front gate, spitting tobacco at scorpions, picking their teeth with knives, and other jolly bandit pastimes. It looks like you'd better wait until dark if you're going to try to sneak inside. In fact, maybe you'd better wait until you've got some kind of a plan or something.
Visiting here after visiting the Fishing Village:
Under cover of darkness, you sneak around to the back of the bandits' fort, and quickly spot the place the old man told you about -- it looks like a small landslide rolled down off of the volcano and smashed up the outer wall a bit. Not enough to make a hole, but the pockmarks and cracks provide perfect handholds for climbing. You quickly scale the wall and drop quietly into the compound on the other side. Keeping a sharp eye out for guards, you sneak up to the back door of the building and push it open a crack. You don't see anyone inside, so you enter cautiously.
