Tektite You're fighting a Tektite

This is something like a four-legged spider. Which makes it not so much like a spider. It's nothing like a dog, though, so maybe it's like a spider that's had four of its legs pulled off. No wonder it's so angry.

Hit Message(s):

It sproings over and bites you in the <arse> with its curiously rectangular fangs. Eek! Ow!

It sproings around, not quite hitting you, but really skeeving you out. Ugh! Oof! Eek! (sleaze damage)

It sproings over and whips you with its antennae. Or maybe those are eyebrows -- at this resolution, who can tell? Ooh! Argh!

It sproings over and buries all four legs in your <thigh>. Oof! Ouch!

Critical Hit Message:

It spins a web (any size) and catches you just like a fly. Look out, here comes that spider, man. Ugh! Ooh!

Miss Message(s):

It sproings over and tries to bite you, but its fangs aren't pointy, so it fails miserably.

It sproings over, but you step on spider, even though you promised not to kill it.

It tries to whip you with its antennae, but it turns out those are just eyebrows.

It tries to bury all four legs in your <throat>, but you block it with your forearms.

Fumble Message:

It spins a web to ensnare you, but gets scared midway through and ends up spooling all of its web fiber onto the ground. (FUMBLE!)

  • Blue and Red Tektites were common monsters in the overworld of the 1987 NES game, The Legend of Zelda.
  • The "step on spider" failed attack is a reference to the They Might Be Giants song, Spider.
  • The critical hit message refers to the theme song from the 1960s animated adaptation of Spider-Man, which includes the lyrics "Spins his web, any size" and "Look out! Here comes the Spider-Man!"
  • The fumble message is likely in reference to a Far Side cartoon, which shows one spider scaring another, who drops a large pile of webbing.
  • The "Nothing like a dog" line refers to a common visual error made when looking at this monster. Many players mistook the black pupil for a nose, and the white part for a cute, dog-like muzzle.
