Well, as it turns out, the golem does not have such a high spell block chance, because i landed 2 consecutive snowclones on one with a ML higher than 500. i'm guessing that the rate is ~75% block, but nowhere near the previously thought ~95%--The ErosionSeeker 17:48, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

With a 95% block chance there's a 1-in-400 chance of landing two attacks in a row. One data point isn't enough to prove anything. Do thousands of attacks and see if the higher odds still hold true. Where did you get your 75% figure from?--Melon 18:23, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Well, the golem has a mechanic similar to NS, but because NS has reasonable and therefore not obscene blocking, i led myself to believe that it was much lower than the ~95%. sorry 'bout that, folks.--The ErosionSeeker 18:26, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Currently trying to spade the block rate on a multi who is a Sauceror (it started mostly because he's poor so I'm trying to avoid spending money on love songs if I don't have to). First result, like most monster blocking in the Kingdom, if the Golem blocks a spell, your familiar doesn't get to act that round; so using a heavy potato to block while trying to cast spells doesn't work. So far, out of 63 saucegeysers cast, 14 got through, and 49 were blocked. That's makes the block rate 77.8% +/- 10.5% (95% confidence interval). I'll update when I finish the dive, but I don't know how much longer I'll be able to soak hits while trying to cast. Still, yay data.

Oh, also wanted to add that Shrap and Soul Blaze do not count as spells for the Golem's blocking, and thus are never blocked. Not sure if that's major enough to warrant inclusion on the main page though. --Xande (talk) 13:31, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

stuck at basement level 61

I'm not sure of the specifics, but all i know is my pretty weak lvl 16 sauceror which has just defeated NS in a normal run but has not ascended has basically come to a halt at this level of the basement, all due to this bloody stubborn golem. I've not a clue if the mechanics allow for greater success with cold spells than fire, or if it's just a fairly generic roll. I'd say that in this run, the NS was ten times easier than this golem has already proven. Perhaps with a heavy enough levitating potato, it attacks can be blocked? --Cspark 21:05, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

  • I'm not an expert, but I have reached level 500 twice. Tips for the basement:
  1. Look at the box at the bottom of Dressing For Success and read all of the pages.
  2. It's not unusual to want to change equipment / effects to suit each level.
  3. Expect to spend a pile of meat on buffs / potions / equipment / items.
  4. Basement dives are good to do as the last three levels of a level 30 trophy run.

  • The trick with beers on the wall golems is to spam items, not spells. Try picking up some divine favors.--Toffile 04:39, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Final golem?

I'm doing a basement dive on this run and I'm curious if anyone has ever fought all 99 of these, effectively knocking down all the beer from the wall... Is that even possible? Csabo (talk) 17:04, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
