I got this from the fighting option in the arena. No visible buffs to any stats or meelee damage. --Unhuman 06:15, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

I'm not certain, but this seems to be raising monster level, could someone spade for that? --HIbeta

Not certain either, but adventuring 10 adventures in the Battlefield without it had me winning 6 combat initiatives, with the effect it was 10 out of 10 adventures (wearing the same equipment). I'll be testing it again tomorrow with more adventures to see if it's really a combat initiative boost. --Trilusion 07:06, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

It's definitely an initiative boost. But I wonder if it just gives you a boost, or maybe always gives you initiative, since I didn't have a single adventure where I didn't get initiative, with the effect. --catalina_marina Update: It's not 100%--Catalina marina 17:08, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

Could it be an increase in combat%? I got two combats in 10 adv at the light house, which seems to be more than average, though certainly not statistically significant (especially since we don't know the base combat rate of the lighthouse) Taber 01:25, 8 July 2007 (CDT) Taber

With the effect I could actually land melee hits in the junkyard as a sauceror who could otherwise never manage that. Perhaps it calculates checks against higher stats? --Thebigsmoke 18:16, 14 July 2007 (CDT)

I'm thinking at least part of the effect is increased combat%. On a character with no boost to combat% it took 32 adventures at Son of a Beach to get 5 gunpowders. On a different character with no boost except White-boy Angst it took 14 adventures to get the same 5 barrels. Do we have enough of an idea what the combat frequency is there to tell if this is within reasonable variance? --Garfnobl 17:18, 22 July 2007 (CDT)

I got a different experience than Garfnobl. I saw a much lower % chance of combat encounters. I adventured in the Haunted Library with WBA and about 50% of the time, Take A Look, it's in a Book! appeared. When WBA expired, Take A Look appeared 4 out of the 20 adventures I spent there. Note that Melvil Dewey and Dust to Dust did not appear during or after WBA. --Shu the Moody 08:28, 11 August 2007 (CDT)

I was adventuring in the Orchard, I was getting the glands in 3-4 adventures, I think it the effect actually has to do with item drops and increased combat.--MiniGates 20:02, 28 August 2007 (CDT)

personally i think that it wont be a multiple modifier. it'll increase initiative or something else but not more than one thing. I think that due to the other effects from the arena.--T.max 20:59, 26 September 2007 (CDT)

Initiative Spading

Using a character that cannot run away at -50/can at -45. With this effect, those numbers become -100, -95. Initiative bonus is 50%.--Foggy 09:03, 21 April 2008 (CDT)
