I'm guessing by the description that this consumes one volcanic ash upon use? --Jimfromtx 23:11, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

  • That's correct. --Archmage84 21:53, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

How does this compare to Saucegeyser or Awesome Balls of Fire? - AvangionQ / September 2nd, 2010.

-

Some preliminary spading with very limited data points appears to suggest it's something like ((35-45)+5*basemys/2)*3 and is responsive to +%spelldamage. ...Or as somebody else in my clan pointed out, it might the same as 3 saucegeysers. --Aoi 18:05, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

  • Probably not the time to ask, but would this be a reference to how they are possibly revising the extinction theory by saying that two meteors on separate occasions were the cause of it, instead of one volcano or one meteor? Argus 05:33, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
  • Seems to me more likely just a reference to the competing theories of super-volcano vs large meteor hit--Feliks 09:36, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
  • Wouldn't it be a good idea to post this to the main page, so that players can get a rough idea of the damage range? A slightly incorrect range is definitely better than no range at all. --Archmage84 21:53, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

hmm... i doubt this skill is affected by +spell damage%, but here it is anyway... 1026, 1080, CRITICAL 1572, 136 myst (161 if buffed), walk-in freezer, bumboozer, jujumojo on lightning, wossname. this skill was used on a frozen duck, more checking later.--The ErosionSeeker 22:55, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

update, 1038, 1086, 1032. and then... 1062, 1086, 1068. each hit was above 1000 damage, but they were all on mcmillicancuddy cold monsters. this skill would be devastating for slimetube runs--The ErosionSeeker 23:02, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

  • Your data strongly suggests that it is Saucegeyser. Also affected by +Spell% damage. Saucegeyser with 161 Myst, +200% spell damage, and +80 spell damage will do 513-543 damage (not contiguous). On a crit, it will do 786-846. Your observed damages match up absolutely perfectly to what Saucegeyser will do against a monster weak to Hot with those modifiers. --RoyalTonberry 00:57, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Against an ordinary monster with sufficient hp, i got 203, 200, and 198. Myst @311, +40 spell damage from brimstone, and +10 from fossilized necklace. Argus 22:56, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

  • Once again, with 339 myst and same modifier spell damage, i got 213, 209, 204. Argus 04:55, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Not a Spell?

In a bug report, Gemelli has told me it shouldn't trigger dragonfish text, so it shouldn't be a spell. however, it appears chefstaves affect the amount of damage given from VMSU. either it's a paradox, or we may need more (not cowbell) confirmation. If it isn't a spell, it should trigger volcano god, yet it doesn't.

here is Gemelli's reply:

"Hi,

Sorry for the delay. No one else picked this up, so here I am :)

I believe that VMSU is classified as a non-spell skill, even though it seems to act like one. So I would not expect it to trigger the dragonfish, but I would expect it to trigger Gaze of the Volcano God. I'll send that to CDM."

what the heck is wrong with this skill?--The ErosionSeeker 00:42, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

  • Ask CDM, obviously. Just another in a long litany of "we did it wrong"s by the TPTB. --Flargen 01:33, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
    • I should be getting a response any day now, gem forwarded my report to him--The ErosionSeeker 23:46, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Another random question...does it do extra damage vs multiple/group opponents, like saucegeyser does? --Jimfromtx 13:10, 16 December 2011 (CET)

  • I wanted to ask the same (relevant for ZHOA), so I tested against a swarm of scarab beetles. Sadly, it does *not* do AoE damage (one turn saucegeyser did 3600, next turn VS hits did 1200 each). In other words, "The effect of this spell is equivalent to the most powerful form of Awesome Balls of Fire." is true, "Each component of the spell damage is equivalent to a Saucegeyser blast." is false. --xKiv (talk) 17:57, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
