Perhaps it was an initial bug that has since been fixed, but I did not lose a slingshot when I got the "put back in my pocket" message; only when the elastic snapped and I threw it through a window. I used slingshots a dozen or so times against Skate Park critters, and got both higher and lower results, so I expanded the range appropriately.

I wonder, based on the item description, if the chance of the slingshot snapping is higher (or guaranteed) above water; it certainly did snap underwater, as I only used it in the Skate Park, but I haven't used it above the surface. --Terion 17:59, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Well, that's handy. So, I used slingshots a number of times in the Skate Park. In 157 uses, I got these damages:

So, 134 beans ranging from 50-100, and 23 eye-beans ranging from 306-500. (I'd expect the lower end of eye-beans to be 300, knowing TPTB's penchant for nice round numbers, but 306 was the lowest I observed.)

Trying the slingshot against a gremlin, I found it won't let you use it (and you don't lose it from an above-water attempt.) Sorry, I didn't keep track of how many broke in those 157 shots; another spader will have to find the chance of breakage. --Terion 03:56, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

I have encountered 23 breakages in 70 shots, so 23/70*100=32.857... so i'm thinking... about 33% chance of breaking, and 14 eye-beans in 70, so 14/70*100=20, so about 20% chance of critical. here are exact numbers:

Normal damage ranged from 50-100, crit damage ranged from 300-500. 116 crits in 581 hits gives a 19.96% chance of a critical, 133 losses out of 430 uses gives = 30.93% chance of consumption. --TechSmurf 00:32, 16 July 2012 (CEST)
