• It's an interesting observation, but as Evilkolbot says, this is true to the class of games Nethack belongs to (the "roguelikes"). Look at the screenshots for Nethack (1987), Rogue (1980), Angband (1990), or just the wikipedia roguelike page. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 12:46, 19 August 2008 (CDT)
