Talk:The Dark and Dank and Sinister Cave/Pre-2015

I'm taking out the redirect, since the new content is officially announced and I'm guessing its time to bring this page back to life.

I haven't seen anything about the new content on here yet here's what I've seen so far. I'm on a oxy hardcore seal clubber ascension (just in case any of that ends up mattering with the new content--I think class type at least might, since the graphic in the 2nd room is called mus_door2). I didn't think to grab anything from the first page, but it was an angry guy with a "gross" half a bull head on his head. I figured it looked/sounded like a viking helm...and sure enough, when I put that in the hole it opened the door. The next one has me stumped so far. Here is the room description: { You approach another large stone slab blocking the hall. This one is engraved with the image of a small bag, with little round things pouring out of it onto a flat circular thing. Below that is a carving of a plain oblong shape, which is beset on the left and right sides by what looks like two magical explosions flying in and, er, exploding on it. You're really not sure what's going on there. Probably it's something the artist couldn't figure out how to draw, so he went allegorical.

The image below that is much clearer, though: it depicts a man covered with flames, screaming in agony and shooting fire out of his mouth.

You find another hole in the wall, similar to the previous one, but smaller -- maybe three inches across. }

With another spot to put something. First (failed) attempt, I got a message { You attempt to put your spices in the hole, but the magical barrier prevents you. Or, possibly, the hole is too small. Since we're not going to implement a "small enough to go in the second hole in the Nemesis cave" entry in the item table, you'll have to decide for yourself which it is. }

After another failed attempt, got a bit more after that: { Grumbling, you riffle through your pack, unable to find anything that looks similar to what the engravings seem to be implying. It's possible you simply don't have whatever the door is looking for. Also, it occurs to you that the engravings may be indicating steps, like some sort of recipe... }

I'm guessing this makes it a crafted item, and possibly one I don't have in inventory. Gonna keep working on it and checking here for updates. Hope this helps you all get the wiki updated as soon as possible. :)

I'm honestly new to this whole process (wiki and spading both), so if anyone has any words of advice for the future, I'm open to all helpful advice.

Also...I did save the graphic from the 2nd room...just not sure what to do with it now.

Level 30 Disco Bandit.

Three puzzle doors: First was a hand with flies and waves coming off - obviously Dirty Hobo Gloves. Second was the one Baltham describes, which is obviously the insanely spicy jumping bean burrito. Third was a bottle, some fruits and advanced cocktail parts which was a random (needs to be spaded) Extra Fruity Girly Drink. The large room has random encounters that drop slips of paper with parts of the password to the Big Door at the end. --- Waveclaw 02:18, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

I had the viking helmet one, and the one Baltham mentioned, which I solved with an insanely spicey bean burrito (not a jumping one, notice!) the third was a snake with a clown's head, and people bouncing off of it. I got past it with a clownskin whip. Going through as a Seal Clubber, haven't solved the password part yet. --Sparksol (t|c) 02:31, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Level 26 Seal Clubber here - was going to mention the same thing, that the second puzzle wouldn't accept an insanely spicy jumping bean burrito, but DID accept the insanely spicy bean burrito. Also got the same 3rd, which leads me to believe the third test will always be class-related (reagent cooking for Saucerors, noodle recipes for PMs, weapons for Seal Clubbers, armor for TTs, and drinks for DS - which makes me wonder what the AT gets). Douglas Hossenfeffer 02:38, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
As per below, looks like the AT needs an active buff. Makes sense. Also, based on the admittedly low sample size, it looks like everyone in a given class gets the same third test... Douglas Hossenfeffer 02:45, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Looks like the burritos needed for the 2nd door are stat related. regular insanely spicy (which is mus based) for mus classes, I.S. Jumping (which is moxie) for moxie, and I bet I.S. enchanted (mys) for mys based classes. Baltham 03:05, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

For a pastamancer the third door requires boring spaghetti. --Bonez565 02:24, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

I think the third door varies between classes. As for me, as an AT, I needed to have the Polka of Plenty Buff.--JohnAnon 02:27, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

As a Seal Clubber, I needed a Clown whip. ArsRampancy 02:28, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Ok, I'm out of turns, but here's what I'm seeing: First door requires a commonly available item from lower-lvl areas. Second door requires your major-stat type insanely spicy burrito. Third door requires something from your character-specific skill tree--super advanced meatsmithing for SC, polka of plenty buff for AT, advanced cocktailcrafting for DB, pastamancery for PM, I'm betting armorcraftiness for TT and a sauce effect for Sauceror.Baltham 03:11, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

For Turtle Tamer: First door is viking helmet, second door is insanely spicy bean burrito, and third was clownskin buckler for me. --Narc 06:34, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

For saucerors, the first door requires a stalk of asparagus, and the third one needs a tomato juice of powerful power.--Xeyk 03:23, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

The 2nd sauceror is an insanely spicy enchanted burrito. --Kmarshall13 19:33, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Anyone else get past the password door yet? I've found 8 different slips of paper, and put them in order based on the tears (look at the item description), but it didn't work. Was just wondering if I was missing a slip (and thus a word), missing a step (like having to convert the words into something else), or if there's a specific way they have to be presented (all caps, or broken up into groups of 6, or something). Douglas Hossenfeffer 03:01, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

I think there are 9 total but the ninth is not implemented yet to keep us from continuing. For example i am missing what would be the 5th in the series. Also Remember this is just a teaser.--Bonez565 03:14, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

There are only 8 pieces, the pieces that has the straighreceived a t ends are actually tears.--Xeyk 03:23, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

my slips wont match, i already have 8 and theres a space for another slip, maybe its a random number of slips per ascension or maybe based on class?--Blood panther 05:29, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank you. alright so i opened the door and fought what is apparently my nemesis and recerived my epic hat.--Bonez565 03:29, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

A Large Chamber

Ok, so it looks like the slips of paper have something to do with the doors. Also, I got a seal eyeball to drop from one of the infernal seal spawns. It is marked as a quest item. Maybe this is a part of it as well?--R00k 03:25, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Both the Second Door and Third Door description on the main page are accurate only for one pair of classes (I think that's Moxie on there now)

TT nemesis text

You're fighting Stella, the Turtle Poacher

You step into the Inner Sanctum, and are confronted by Stella, the Turtle Poacher. They speak of her in hushed tones in the halls of the Brotherhood of the Smackdown -- the coldly beautiful, mysterious Turtle Tamer who went rogue, and now instead of taming turtles, she hunts them -- not only for profit, but also for cruel sport. And tasty soup.

"Another pathetic Turtle Tamer come to spoil my fun?" she sneers at you. "Just try it, turtle-lover."

"Lady, you're goin' down," you growl.

She gets the jump on you.

She tries to box you like a box turtle, but you think outside the box

our final blow knocks Stella backward, and she collapses against the wall, panting heavily, her hair askew (and probably her bodice ripped a bit too, but don't get all excited, right? We're going for violence here, not bow-chicka-bow-wow.)

"Meddlers!" she spits at you. "Stupid goody-goodies and your stupid turtles, always out to ruin my fun! What are a couple slimy amphibians to you, anyway?"

"I'll have you know the turtle is a fine and noble breed of..."

"Shut it, Girl Scout. It was a rhetorical question." And with that, she stalks off in a huff.

Hey, what's that on the floor? You gain 37 Meat Hotty does a little fairy dance. You acquire an item: Elder Turtle Shell [equip] --Brooklyn Red Leg 04:20, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Paper slips?

How many are there? It seems like there might be one missing--maybe Jick is purposefully delaying the end of the quest? Skully B. 05:32, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

after doing some reading it seems most people got 8 slips, and managed to open the door to fight their nemesis. however it also seems some people have 8 slips but seem to be missing one, this might be a bug.--Blood panther 05:35, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

It's not missing one. Someone decided it would be a great idea to use vertical tears as actual tears and not deliminators.--Toffile 05:39, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

this is what i get for assuming things.....thanks for the help worked like a charm.--Blood panther 05:44, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

When it Becomes Available

It was not available for me at 20 mainstat (unbuffed). It was available at 23 mainstat. I also completed the meatcar between checking between those two stats.--Njord 19:25, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
