L11 Quest, phase 3, required to get drop

Has anyone seen this drop post-NS13? I've been adventuring in search of it for quite some time and haven't gotten it, so I'm a bit concerned. --Darklight 01:44, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

I'm seconding this sentiment, and really suspicious that this not only now a quest item, but one that only drops after recieving the level 11 quest. I just burned ~100 turns, (late level 9, early level 10. 2/3 of my precious daily HC turns!) with a 20 + lb gravy fairy + some eq +item, no drop... It's possible the RNG was just in a hating mood... I can confirm that this will not drop unless you first complete the Hidden Temple quest (Gotta Worship Them All), & the Spooky Raven quest (In a Manor of Spooking) which are the first two sub-quests of the Quest for the Holy MacGuffin. I burned nearly 200 turns searching for it prior to the completion of both these quests, then found both of them within 10-15 turns afterwards. --BicNowler 11:34 22 August 2007

I can confirm BicNowler just had bad RNG luck. I got the diary, read it, and went straight to the cove. It took about 15 adventures before I got my first one, but I got it without spending a single adventure towards completing the other two quests. --RobN 17:05, 8 September 2007 (CDT)

Only 2 per ascension allowed?

I'm level 13, I've read the diary, but it wont drop, and I've spent 100's of turns there. Argh! I get the feeling I've missed something. Adite 04:25, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

What the hell? Same as the above- Was level 11, read the diary, even my quest log agreed- i needed the 'strange amulet the pirate was wearing'. I am now level 12, and have blown five-hundred and fifty turns searching for the elusive charrrm. WTF is wrong?--DaemonStryker 01:19, 27 July 2007 (CDT)

• If you have not ascended since NS13, you may still have the charrrms or Talisman from back when they did drop at level 6. Check your inventory. --Jonrock 01:48, 27 July 2007 (CDT)

I checked for the snakehead charrrm, but not the Talisman, (which is in accessories, a key point when you have a large inventory). I already had one, and hey presto, issue resolved! Adite 11:01, 27 July 2007 /(CDT)

Can we all agree that you don't get this drop if you already have a Talisman o' Namsilat or two charrrms already in any variation on your inventory? In other words, maximum of two dropped per ascension post-NS13? --Mis2027 14:27, 5 September 2007 (CDT)

Nope. It's my first ascension (Zeroth?), and I beat the NS before NS13, but chose to do the level 11 quest anyway. I'm not positive about the numbers, but all I know is that I got at least one, and when I checked my inventory I had 16. I just realised my husband's character (initial run) has 2 talisman o' nams... I just obtained the second one (playing his turns for him) yesterday without realising he had one already. The character was only created on 2 Dec 2007, so I suppose it is possible to get more than 2 of them. Asinine 12:07, 19 February 2008 (CST)

• The pirate stuff didn't roll out until a few days after that, and initially there are always some funkiness. It possible they were obtained before the drop restriction was in place. Oops. I am in possession of two Talismans o' Nam. I had the charrrms drop on four separate occasions, and have decided to go ahead and make two Talismans. I don't know why I received four charrrms, but I thought I should mention it here. I have ascended a few times since NS13, so that should have no bearing on what happened.--c6 17:32, 8 July 2008 (CDT)

I am in a hardcore run at the moment, and I had a talisman of nam equiped and adventured in the belowdecks again and got another snakehead charrrm. --Ohnoanotherputz 06:44, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

I also just got a snakehead charrrm with a Talisman O' Nam equipped. Perhaps it checks inventory, closet, etc. but not equipped items? First run, L13 Turtle Tamer. --Littlebeast 01:14, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
