Is the whole bit about the arse-shooting crossbow necessary, since it is probably obsolete now? --Jimmy the Bard 00:05, 2 September 2007 (CDT)

The things rollover does, in order of execution, from information from the Jick show, October 6:

  • Kick off all of the players
  • Back up the php code
  • Mark all players who either have Mr. As or got the gifts, and no-delete them. It usually works.
  • Delete unactivated accounts that are a week old
  • Delete 60 day old accounts
  • Delete disabled accounts that haven't played in two weeks
  • Check if deleting players messed up clans: delete them (ie, no leader or empty clan is left)
  • Check if deleted players had mall stores: delete them
  • Add 40 adventures
  • Restore HP and MP based on what you have in your campsite
  • Add adventures based on equipment
  • Goofball withdrawal
  • Reset Pastamancery/Advanced Cocktailcrafting/Advanced Saucecrafting counters as well as PvP.
  • Reset clan attack, though Jick is unsure about what it does
  • Delete mall purchase records for store owners (is what I gathered)
  • Reset clan attack, again, I guess
  • Decide whether or not it's a clover day, by flipping a "coin"
  • Decide what Bounty Hunter Hunter wants
  • Decide Daily special at Brewery
  • Decide Daily special at restaraunt
  • Set Weird leaderboards
  • Add Clan calendar adventures
  • Max out adventures at 200
  • Update moons
  • Remove money from collection endowments
  • Decide cake-shaped arena house familiars
  • Grow mushrooms
  • Track items and economy
  • Archive the item and economy log
  • Set Daily Dungeon
  • Back up player table, for some reason
  • Generates text file for Jick to see how many players were created and how many played within the last day/week/month, and how many got deleted.
  • Give oatmeal for clan army
  • Delete info from store log, clan log, failed login attempts, # of logins
  • Delete fight records
  • Make a bunch of files for Xenophobe
  • Re-auto-increment chat, for dev people
  • Send unsent private messages
  • Let people log in!

Isn't beaten up taken off at rollover now? I remember reading this on the front page...--Kookoo275 19:29, 19 May 2006 (CDT)

Rollover HP/MP

I just checked, and for some reason I don't get extra HP/MP for my pagoda or my fung shui on rollover. It could be because I'm in hardcore/oxy, or else those don't actually matter. If so, rollover article text should be changed. Other people's experiences? Holler 02:46, 18 July 2006 (CDT)

  • Additional HP/MP from the Pagoda or Feng Shui only effect how much you get when you rest, not at rollover. --Shima 22:57, 20 July 2006 (CDT)

I keep getting more MP than expected at rollover. I have a barskin tent, a bartender-in-the-box, im in hc and pvp. I expected 20MP but I keep getting more than 20 MP.--Darkness 02:30, 9 August 2006 (CDT)

Okay today I had a house at rollover and got 55MP. It seems that there is an extra 15MP for I dont know what. Maybe its just a free 15MP. Other players in /hardcore have reported this extra 15MP too.--Darkness 07:46, 10 August 2006 (CDT)

Again with house 55mp. This time using teddy bear and these items Hat: stainless steel skullcap Weapon: sword of static Off-Hand: hippo skin buckler Pants: filthy corduroys Accessory 1: badass belt Accessory 2: eXtreme nose ring Accessory 3: hamethyst necklace --Darkness 16:11, 16 August 2006 (CDT)

  • Today (as of posting) is/was a mysticality day, hence a increased MP restored at rollover. --JRSiebz (|§|) 16:18, 16 August 2006 (CDT)

Got extra MP at rollover today. Had a newbiesport tent and got 25MP at rollover. I suspect it must be the bartender-in-the-box. Though it could also be stainless item equipt, or stat days... but i'm fairly sure its the box.--Darkness 00:27, 4 September 2006 (CDT)

  • Okay i've worked it out. Having a bartender-in-the-box and/or chef-in-the-box at your campsite gives you +15MP at rollover.--Darkness 09:54, 21 October 2006 (CDT)

Here's a link to the KoL documentation page on Nightly Maintenance associated with the November 18th trivial update: "Random interface upgrade: A small timer will now appear on the left side of the screen when it is less than 30 minutes 'til rollover." It's kinda funny, and may need to be integrated into this article somehow. --JRSiebz (|§|) 21:19, 19 November 2006 (CST)

Other time zones

I think that there must be a note, when the rollover starts on UTC (GMT) because of not all players are from North America. (I'm for example am from GMT +2) --Alotar 14:38, 31 January 2008 (CST)

  • Well it happens at 3:30AM GMT (0330 GMT) if that helps. --Plater (t|c) 14:45, 31 January 2008 (CST)

Clean Up?

All the stuff worded like "If the character has a Cheap Toaster at their Campground, they may get 3 pieces of toast" feels wrong to me. I think it should be more like "If the character has a Cheap Toaster at their Campground, reset the toast counter". Consenus? --Club (#66669) (Talk) 18:25, 31 January 2008 (CST)

PS: Archived ascension rollout page. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 18:25, 31 January 2008 (CST)

length of rollover

i wanna know exactly how long rollover is(onsaturdays too)if not possible, plz tell me an average.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Indeego (talkcontribs) on 05:17 GMT, 25 May 2008

  1. it varies, although since it's in the middle of the night for me i've never seen it. word is it's about half an hour most nights, longer on saturday. there's at least one forum thread.
  2. sign your posts on talk pages with two hyphens and four tildes like this --~~~~ so we know something about you like this: --Evilkolbot 01:50, 25 May 2008 (CDT)

Rollover During Combat

If I am in the middle of combat and am low in HP and decide to wait for rollover to gain some HP and MP from my housing, does this work? What if I am up against an ultra rare monster? Can I fight him over a period of a few days so I don't end up with a consolation ribbon but rather an ultra rare? --Annoying nerd 02:11, 20 August 2008 (CDT)

  • I think you just get booted out of you current combat, like running away or losing without getting beat up, I assume the 1 turn is consumed... or maybe not? --JRSiebz (|§|) 05:11, 20 August 2008 (CDT)

Saturday Rollover

I haven't been checking every week, but it seems there many no longer be anything special about Saturday rollovers. Tonight I was able to get back into the kingdom within 45 minutes, which is about how long all rollovers have been lasting recently. --TimRem 05:20, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

New Rollover

  • Should we edit "We aim for about 30 minutes of downtime a day"? I have observed it and it now seems to be just 15 minutes --Icon315 03:43, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
    • Well, since that box is a copy of the official documentation, I don't think we should change it. However, since that documentation reads 20 minutes, not 30 minutes, I've fixed it here. --TimRem 09:39, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
