Talk:Pufferfish
Of note, the pufferfish's poison effect damages you even on the final round. I used a fish-oil smoke bomb to escape combat, and I still got hit by the poison, which killed me. Got 4 turns of Beaten Up, and none of my post-combat "gain HP" items took effect. --Redi 02:29, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
- I think this is important, as dying in the same round as killing the pufferfish also means you don't get any item drops (or stats, or other post-combat actions as already noted). I'll add a note on the monster page. --MadKingSoupII 21:13, 24 March 2012 (CET)
If you get the jump (and it has a high initiative), the poison special attack and the first poison message both occur on the next round. If you lose initiative, it poisons you on the first round, and the poison messages start on the next round. The first attack always did 4 HP to me. —Yendor 06:46, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- A Cuddlefish familiar will often prevent the Pufferfish from attacking. I've had it block up to five consecutive attacks before being poisoned.--JungleSlug 16:08, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Incidentally, an anti-anti-antidote can't remove the poison effect. Which is very lame. Anyone know if the bezoar ring can stop it? --Flargen 19:02, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
The bezoar ring does nothing. --World's Number 1 Grandpa 23:54, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
- That's pretty lame. Maybe that should be reported as bug... --Flargen 00:07, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Poison formula is pretty simple looking. Damage 2^(1+n), where n is 1 when the puffle fish gets it, and 2 the next round, 3 after that and so on.
Expontianal if you will--Brion thenotgiant 20:43, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Statistics
I've been collecting item drop data at various +item% bonuses in the madness reef, some of them with wallaby characters using a fairy type. This was taken into account when I performed my statistical analysis of the data. Those item drop rates that included a wallaby fairy have a "w:X" attached to them, where X is the default weight of the fairy. Since all of the drop rates are fairly low, resulting in relatively small error margins, I'm going ahead and posting the results before I hit the more typical number of encounters for this sort of thing. --Flargen 09:35, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

- Added some extra data obtained while working out the jellyfish gel drop rate. --Flargen 05:56, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
- Got some more data to narrow down the rates to unique integers. --Flargen 09:15, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
