Someone mind adding which monster you steal it from? --LegendaryBard 10:49, 11 January 2007 (CST)

  • I was also wondering this. It's obviously one of the clowns, but which one is it (or perhaps both)? --AtroPhied 17:44, 11 January 2007 (CST)
    • Apparently it's a scary clown. Now added to all the corresponding pages. --AtroPhied 20:07, 11 January 2007 (CST)
    • I just got one from a creepy clown, too. --gryphon 18:44, 13 January 2007 (CST)
      • I have just been grinding those clowns in Fun-House. I have done it before a long time without getting the Polka-dot bowtie, but not sure how long. This time I have met at least 20 clowns of the kind you say I can pickpocket the bowtie from, but haven't got it.. What's the Pickpocket-rate if this thing?? --Ferdawoon 13:45, 6 April 2007 (CDT)

Could the "smells like popcorn" also refer to Killer Klowns from Outer Space? In that movie, the popcorn was a bunch of evil clown eggs.--Avigor 19:13, 14 January 2007 (CST)

This item seems to have been removed from the game as of NS-13, can anyone confirm? I had one in my inventory and it has since disappeared.--Amilianna 14:23, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

  • No, you kind of need it for the clown outfit, which is needed for the guild quest. It's probably just a glitch, I noticed the clown outfit doesn't show up on the dropdown bar if you have all the parts, for one. Evan 14:27, 25 June 2007 (CDT)
  • I can confirm that I still had one after NS13 was implemented. --Baltar 14:34, 25 June 2007 (CDT)
  • I also had mine, but I also have a question about it; does it being part of a guild quest mean that non-moxie classes in hardcore won't be able to do this quest until after freeing the king? --Sparksol 18:26, 25 June 2007 (CDT)
  • No. As is being discussed in various places around the wiki, the quest can be completed with any variety of clownish gear. --Southwest 18:28, 25 June 2007 (CDT)
  • I can confirm that you can still get this using pickpocket after NS13, but it takes a lot of adventures. Got it after about 40 clown encounters. I can also confirm that it is not needed to complete the epic weapon quest. The rest of the outfit without it works just fine. --CybrWulf 13:13, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

So if you can only get it by pick pocketing a clown, then how can you get it if you aren't a moxie class? I've searched the Malls and market place, but all I can find is people charging 30K meat for it. The only other way I could think to get it would require a violation of the Policies of Loathing. Basically the administrators created a catch-22 with this item. --Ehko-sense

Unless your a moxie class, or have access to the mall/flea market, you cannot get this item. Fortunately, it is not required to fight The Clownlord Beelzebozo. See the page on him for an excellent synopsis of the required clownosity to face him. --Munkel (talk) 21:29, 21 July 2007 (CDT)

On October 4, apparently shortly before rollover, this item was renamed to "polka-dot bow tie" (plural: polka-dot bow ties) - note corrected spelling of "bow tie". I'm not sure how to move a page, and keep all the categories and links properly pointing to it - I think I'll leave that to the experts. --Jasonharper 13:05, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

The wiki claims this gives +2 clownosity, but the description says 75% which is equivalent to 3 clownosity. this is the only clownosity item where the wiki disagrees with the in game % given. So, is this an error in the wiki, or a bug in the game?--Taltamir (talk) 05:01, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

well, I just confirmed that the in game description is correct. the wiki is wrong. this item gives 3 clownosity. By equipping it alongside bloody pants (1 clownosity) I was able to fight the boss --Taltamir (talk) 05:03, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
