Split Up

The silver shrimp fork is listed here, but it is a "1-handed utensil" not a "1-handed weapon" and thus not available to use for use either as, or with, an offhand weapon and the Double-Fisted Skull Smashing skill. I'm assuming this page exists specifically to list those weapons that can be equipped off-hand, so I'm suggesting it (the fork) should be removed from this page. However, I would like to see someone more involved in the wiki weigh in on this before I do anything rash :) --John. 20:11, 18 February 2007 (CST)

  • Well from What I have been able to tell you can use the fork as an offhand weapon as long as you have as the main another 1-handed Mysticality Req weapon (like another fork!), not that there are many Myst weapons at all right now!--Xeno The Morph 20:33, 18 February 2007 (CST)
  • I think you're right on the spot. Well, close to it. This should definitely be noted before the table after the change is made. It's worth noting that other "1-handed utensil" are on the list and they are currently able to be dual equipped. I think that it's currently the Mysticality requirement that's not allowing it (like Xeno The Morph said). I'm guessing that other utensils will eventually be switched to use this requirement though. So unless someone else thinks otherwise I would say it's safe to remove the silver shrimp fork and add a note to the top of the page. --TheDotGamer 20:37, 18 February 2007 (CST)
    • Thinking about it a little more it sort of makes sense to have three different sections on this page. One for Muscle weapons, one for Mysticality weapons, and one for Moxie weapons. One-handed ranged weapons are currently mixed in with the Muscle weapons which also cannot be cross-dual equipped. I believe that only the fork is currently using the Mysticality requirement for one-handed weapons, so that section would be quite small, but as I mentioned before I'm sure we'll see an equipment requirement upgrade in the future. --TheDotGamer 20:43, 18 February 2007 (CST)
      • That sounds like a good plan; it makes the table more useful as a quick reference while playing, too. --Starwed 23:50, 18 February 2007 (CST)
  • Right now, under Weapons (by power), we have (Ranged, Staves, One-Handed, Two-handed). That breakdown is clearly what evolved over time and isn't very orthagonal or even really logical. Three-handed weapons are overlooked (seen only on the Weapons page), and there is the issue of having handy lists for dual equipping as brought up here. Would the following breakdown of weapons (by power) make more sense: one-handed melee (muscle), one-handed myst, one-handed ranged (moxie), one-haned (all), two-handed melee, two-handed staves, two-handed ranged, two-handed (all), three-handed? The downside of this is that the same weapons appears on multiple pages and thus it is harder to keep all pages up-to-date. Am I crazy here? Am I even correct on how the one-handed weapons should be broken down (I'm a little shaky on this whole muscle-vs-mystically-vs-moxie thing)? --John. 10:27, 19 February 2007 (CST)
    • I was thinking more along the lines of still only having one page for each amount of hands required, but splitting the article up into three sections. Very rarely where anyone would use this page without already selecting the type of weapon they want to use (Melee/Myst/Ranged). I guess one (perfectly acceptable I might add) is in the process of Pulverizing, but even in that case they would be using Weapons (by power), not caring about the amount of hands it requires. Also, it is worth noting the discussion on sortable tables, as that could perhaps prevent this page from splitting up into three separate tables. --TheDotGamer 02:30, 3 March 2007 (CST)

Custom Items

How come some of the "by power" pages, like this one include custom items, whereas some pages like Accessories (by requirement) do not? This has been a long annoyance of mine. Since this is "game mechanics", I don't think it's useful to include items that exist, but people can't get. What does anyone else think? --Duke33 20:32, 2 March 2007 (CST)

  • I feel that they probably shouldn't be listed on the tables. If anything, they maybe could be listed in a note at the bottom of the page with any custom items that fit the criteria. --TheDotGamer 02:30, 3 March 2007 (CST)
