Er, wot? What is with the name of this page? --Lordebon 03:51, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

  • Looks like a joke referring to the page's name. "Page name?" "Frank. Maybe Brad." --Southwest 08:02, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
    • That's a joke? Just sounds like stupidity to me. Glad evilkolbot put it in a proper place. --Lordebon 14:27, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
      • not entirely sure i've got the capitalisation right. title case? "Once per Ascension Items?" --Evilkolbot 16:43, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
        • Lower case is easier to find and work into [[in line links]]. There's a lot of things missing from this page. I'm going to add some. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 18:16, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
      • I asked /hc for a list online, and they started listing things. When I clarified that I wanted an existing list, they told me to make one. Then I said, "Fine," and asked for a name. I think it was BabyScarface who suggested it, and since it was the only voice... --Raijinili 08:20, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

I have removed Lord Spookyraven's spectacles from this list. It's a quest item, and optional only if you brute-force the wine cellar. Given that the first half violates the top paragraph, I think it's justified. --Parse 18:31, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

I had no idea that the GMoB disappeared after you beat him! You learn something new every day, huh? --Rottingflesh 21:50, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Why limit this to optional items? I have my own list of once-per-ascension things as part of my end of run Display Case checklist. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 19:23, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

  • Yeah, not sure about this one. Does this mean the Macguffin quest rewards are "optional"? --Itsatrap 19:34, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
    • This means that most quest rewards, marked as "quest item" or not, are not strictly optional. Really though, I'm confused about what this page is for. Is it for listing all one-time-per-ascension items, or just the ones not automatically obtained on the way to the NS? --Itsatrap 19:41, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
    • Original page summary said it was a "checklist". Checklist for what, that was not specified. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 19:56, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
    • It sounds to me mostly like a page for everything that you can get only one time in an ascension. --RoyalTonberry 19:57, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
  • I'd think it would be stuff that you can miss. No real point in listing the stuff that can be gotten once, but at the same time can't be avoided.--Toffile 20:18, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
    • Other than that I imagine we'll have at least one person every week adding in the MacGuffin, etc. --Flargen 20:56, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
  • isn't BVR optional? --Evilkolbot 22:17, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
    • True, true. Also the BVR/Goblin King drops are all mutually exclusive, there's no way to get more than 1 of them.--Toffile 04:08, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
  • Basically "stuff I want to get before I ascend" is what I'm going for here, so mainquest rewards are out. As opposed to "stuff I might want to do before I ascend", such as buying a skill or blowing up the innaboxes, which is in fact a better list to make. Of course, this being a wiki, the end purpose of this page is up to consensus and/or mob rule. --Raijinili 08:24, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Here's another question on "optional": mysterious island war uniques (Heros) like Monty Basingstoke-Pratt, IV and Glass of Orange Juice. You only get to fight (win?) once per ascension, but some luck is involved. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 19:37, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Added the hot pink lipstick for the sleazy gravy fairy under miscellaneous. The "Elemental Gravy fairy or elemental gravy fairy equipment" entry is under moon-sign specific, and is talking about the mushroom quest. Move as you see fit, but it definitely needs it's own mention. --Dram 01:52, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

Toffile's last edit summary: so by "go out of your way to get", you mean "item that is automatically given to you by starting a path"? Yes, exactly like that. I saw that and thought I removed it, but obviously I missed it. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 00:43, 13 December 2012 (CET)

Expansion to non-items?

For example, the 3 adventures from the Hidden Temple.

Or is there something that already lists that? I feel like there is. --Raijinili (talk) 13:25, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Aren't most/all of the antique items once per map, not once per ascension? Like, don't people use multiple maps to farm pixel orbs? Isn't that a thing? If so, they should be removed. --Johnny Treehugger (talk) 15:31, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Limit: 1 map per ascension. So that fits the page. I'm beginning to suspect that tiny bowler is once per ascension, but it could just be bad RNG luck. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 15:53, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
    • Hmm. That's true. Though, doesn't the map to the kegger in the woods disappear after you get the reward? Did I imagine that? Regardless. You can get multiple bowlers, I haven't ascended in a year, I had three bowlers in inventory and just yellow rayed a fourth. --Johnny Treehugger (talk) 16:37, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
      • I honestly thought the Kegger map could be completed multiple times in 1 ascension. I cannot test it ATM, though. ~Erich t/c 17:36, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
      • Maps do not go away, but (pretty sure for all) you cannot adventure there anymore. Eg: "The party's over, bra." --Club (#66669) (Talk) 17:39, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
        • Nope! Just tested it on a multi. Map gets consumed once you give the #s to the cop, and trying to adventure again gives you "party's over, bra", but you can use another antique opener and get the map and quest to start over. So, that's that. ~Erich t/c 17:58, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

rules rule

  • if this were my page, this is what i'd want from it. it would be a checklist of those items I wouldn't have when I reached the sorceress but which I could get just one more of before I ascended, and which I could then store in my display case. I see no point in quest items. you can't collect them or display them. so frobozz house is out, along with the scripts. so too is the gold ring because you can't ascend without one. similarly the <non-derogatory-word>-a-cake-pendant, I can just buy those. maybe this is just me, though. --Evilkolbot (talk) 17:14, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
  • You so can ascend without the gold ring. I didn't get one this time on my BM multi because I couldn't be bothered to pass all the stat tests. So I just rode it out and burned the hotel. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 17:32, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
    • Oh, duh. I added the hermit/stat scripts in place of 31337 scroll, since you can make multiple 31337s, and I added the House since the other leaflet items were there. I forgot they were quest items. They can go. --Johnny Treehugger (talk) 17:56, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
