any idea how this is made?--richie

I'm putting this at the top because I feel it's MOST important. Today, when Gloomy Mushrooms were picked, the price of Gloomy Mushroom Wine went down to 1/100 of what it was. But so did Oily Mushroom Wine. So, whatever it is, it happens during the rollover when the moons are Moon8.gifMoon8.gif Criswell 23:59, 29 March 2006 (CST)

If you had bothered to look at this item's article page, you would see clearly that it is obtained by trading a gloomy black mushroom with A Suspicious-Looking Guy. --Quietust 00:09, 30 March 2006 (CST)
In that case, this entire page becomes moot now. Criswell 12:11, 30 March 2006 (CST)

Here's an idea: The Gloomy black mushroom is made with the Frozen mushroom (3rd gen.) and the Spooky mushroom (1st gen.), and only when the moons are both black.

So, maybe this one can be made by combining either the Stinky mushroom or Flaming mushroom (the other two 3rd generation mushrooms) with the Knoll mushroom or possibly the Knob mushroom (the other two 1st generation mushrooms).

Also, maybe try it when the moons are both full?--Cwitz

BOTH MOONS CANNOT BE FULL!--Fly boy42 21:43, 16 March 2006 (CST)

Oops, never mind.--Cwitz

Well, maybe this talk page should start ruling out possibilities. I don't even have my gloomy black mushroom yet, but as soon as I do I will try zapping it. Then I'll try to make it the hard way, with all the moon phases and combinations of stuff. Also, I think the oily golden mushroom most resembles the flaming mushroom. Lotusduck 10:23, 17 March 2006 (CST)
  • Someone in my clan (JLE, I think) has already zapped the gloomy mushroom. Nothin'. --Ricket 18:03, 17 March 2006 (CST)
Of course it just couldn't be that easy.Lotusduck 10:11, 18 March 2006 (CST)

Sure, it is probably the flaming mushroom, but try the Stinky one too if you can. It's worth a try... --Cwitz

While I'm waiting for my mushrooms to grow up, is there any chance this item is made through cocktail crafting? Lotusduck 10:46, 18 March 2006 (CST)

Maybe made from gloomy black mushroom? Just greenlighting.--A and m 18:51, 18 March 2006 (CST)

It must need the knoll mushroom, since the knob already creates the normal Gravy Fairy and the spooky is taken too. Also it must need a lot of light, since is golden. Last, but not least, it needs fire, 'cause is hot, is sleaze. That's my theory. Say whatever u want, I'm not gonna cry

Has anybody tried to crossbreed a pair of Gloomys? crossbreed a first with a second? a second with a third? a Gloomy with everything?--Criswell 00:25, 24 March 2006 (CST)

I haven't yet. You should try, I'm going to try bono's idea. Or something easier. Lotusduck 09:29, 23 March 2006 (CST)

Okay, there's reference to moonless nights in the gloomy black mushroom description, and reference to light in the oily golden mushrooms, so some manner of quarter or full moon must be involved. If frozen and spooky equals gloomy, then firey and...knoll? knob? oh man. Lotusduck 22:18, 23 March 2006 (CST)

Next double dark moon, I should have a gloomy pair. I'll keep them around for another full cycle to eliminate or prove double gloomy. Meanwhile, I'm also growing a flaming/knoll combo to eliminate or prove the bono combo.--Criswell 00:31, 24 March 2006 (CST)

Somehow, I have strong doubts about one "Secret" familiar being part of the recipe for another, especially when they're not really related. I'd say that if I were to pick one combination to try, it would be Flaming and Knob. --MazMedias 09:04, 24 March 2006 (CST)

Yeah, Bono Combo ! Like McDonalds or stuff. Right... I can't do it, 'cause im on hardcore and mystical. Please, anyone, try my theory. And I really think that the knoll is the key. --Fernando Bono 12:12, 25 March 2006 (CST)

I have had the following mushroom combinations set up in my field since March 23rd (Dougtember 3): Frozen/Spooky; Frozen/Knoll; Flaming/Knoll; Flaming/Knob; Stinky/Knob; Stinky/Spooky None of these have produced anything yet. So if the above guess for moon phases is correct, which happened on March 24 (Dougtember 4), the combination is either Flaming/Spooky, Frozen/Knob, or Stinky/Knoll. My guess is Stinky/Knoll, because that involves neither component of the gloomy mushroom. Of course, I could always be wrong. Usually am. We'll find out more on the 30th, the day right after double full moons. --Azimuth 18:01, 27 March 2006 (CST)

I have 3 characters, one is setup for testing Flaming and the two tier ones, another setup for testing Stinky and the two tier ones, the third I am setting up to make 8 Gloomy mushrooms on the next double dark moon. I am trying to figure out the number of days prior to the double dark when you need to start planting for the 8 mushroom harvest.

On March 27, Jick stated that there were less than 50 of each sleazy gravy fairy and spooky gravy fairy. I'm leaning towards beliving that the recipes *have* to be very close, like another 1st/3rd/Moons combo.Criswell 10:34, 29 March 2006 (CST)

If you guys had been reading the forum thread, you'd know that the oily golden mushroom has nothing to do with the mushroom plot. You get it by doing something with a gloomy black mushroom. --Suraimu 13:20, 28 March 2006 (CST)

What thread? Did Jick say anything like this? You said that you don't think it has anything to do with farming, but given the possible moon phase requirements, I don't see it as unlikely at all. I kind of thought maybe somebody could put the felonia quest reward make-up on a gloomy black mushroom. But-- if it's that simple, why aren't they in the mall yet? Moon-phase dependent mushrooms would explain why there isn't one in the mall yet. There's fifteen days of moon phases. There's also no gloomy black mushrooms in the mall, and nobody has contested the recepie that's up now... Lotusduck 16:34, 28 March 2006 (CST)
They're not in the mall because they're marked as non-tradeable. You can see them in people's display cases, though... --Quietust 19:32, 28 March 2006 (CST)
Makes sense. I didn't see that on the page, but now I look and it is there. Hmm.Lotusduck 22:58, 28 March 2006 (CST)

Based on when Werebear first got his oily golden mushroom, it would have been impossible for it to have been grown in the mushroom plot. It's a ways back in the Gravy Fairies thread now, JLE first pointed it out. --Suraimu 03:51, 29 March 2006 (CST)

But if it requires the gloomy black mushroom, how could he be able to make that but be unable to make an oily golden mushroom? Do you know when the ability to make these was first enabled? Lotusduck 15:29, 29 March 2006 (CST)

Interesting - The official date of Xenophobe stating that both the Sleazy and Spooky Gravy Fairies being available to everyone was February 12, 2006. Someone double check my calculations, but I place a Double Black Moon on Feb 10, 2006. Hmmm ... --Criswell 19:47, 29 March 2006 (CST)

It may very well be that the reason he waited until just after that double-new moon day was for testing purposes. After all, it's best to make sure something actually works before you tell people it does, right? ;) --Rintaun 20:01, 29 March 2006 (CST)

--I found out how to get this; should I post it here? How do spoiler tags work here? Am I allowed to give it away?--Azimuth 22:27, 29 March 2006 (CST)

See Gloomy_black_mushroom for a good outline of how to post the info (assuming it's at all similar). The only spoilery things that are sacred here, as far as I know, are the leaflet words. So go ahead. I'm sure everyone is dying to know.--Monochrome Jesus 22:39, 29 March 2006 (CST)

  • any ideas on what you can cook it with? --Evilkolbot 18:10, 5 May 2006 (CDT)

Why's the plural impossible to determine?--Jatopian 19:39, 12 January 2007 (CST)

  • See this page for all of the valid methods of determining plural forms - this doesn't fit into any of 'em. --Quietust (t|c) 19:44, 12 January 2007 (CST)
