Talk:Ocean Treasure
I think I noticed something about these adventures. It seems as if certain spots drop either keys or chests, but not both. Though I don't have enough adventures in to confirm this it seems as if when I adventure at locations that are both even I get a chest, if the first is even and the second is odd I get a key. So far after about 20 of these adventures I have gotten that same pattern. Anyone else notice anything like this?
Also of those 20 adventures half have been at the same two sets of coordinates.

Distribution?
Has anyone confirmed that there isn't a non-uniform distribution of the keys and chests? There's a big fluctuation of price in the mall, which doesn't necessarily mean anything but it would probably worthwhile for someone to have a multi look into. --Shoptroll 10:00, 2 January 2008 (CST)
I think the fluctuation of the mall price is because, it seems that the gilded chest and keys will sort of be 'exhausted' froma certain coordinate, AND the gilded chest and keys are more expensive because it seems that the gilded chest have more chance of getting pieces of thirteen. Besides that, the fluctuation is also caused by the fluctuation of the pieces of thirtee prices, if the pieces of thirteen goes up, the chest will also go up because the chest produces the pieces of thirteen, the same can be said if the pieces of thirteen prices drop. Although i cant dissmiss that there isnt any non-uniform distrubution.--TehChozenOne 00:28, 17 January 2008 (CST)
Chest/Keys not entirely random?
I have been adventuring for about 20 times at two coordinate that for me at first, seem to yield gilded chest or keys, however after like 7-8 visits to each place, the gilded stuff seem to appear very much less frequently, and more ornate/normal ancient cursed stuff seem to appear. Could it be that the gilded stuff will run out in the certain coordinate after adventuring there for a few times? However i also noticed that when i started to get non-gilded chest/keys, i also finished using all my gilded chest/keys. Could the chance of chest/keys be effected by the majority of what chest/keys in your inventory are?--TehChozenOne 00:35, 17 January 2008 (CST)
- I think it's been said on the Radio that all chests are made equal, and that people wanting Gilded over the other sorts is just the Placebo effect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mojotech (talk • contribs) on 06:18, 17 January 2008
- I dont think the chest are created equal, From the data in the wiki (the disscussion page), it seems that the gilded chest have more chance of getting pieces of thirteen and higher chance of getting more than one pieces of thirteen. The acient cursed chest seem to give less cursed pieces of thirteen and only seem to give from 0-1--TehChozenOne 09:57, 20 January 2008 (CST)

- I've been sailing for a few days now, and, while I haven't been keeping any solid numbers, I've been getting more pieces of thirteen from footlockers than gilded chests. They're equal. --TechSmurf 12:49, 20 January 2008 (CST)
- Huh. Wuffles is reporting his yields from the chests and he's seeing more from the gilded chest than the other two. Maybe there's a mechanic going on which is based on that personal "seed" value that determines things like the bang potions and the dusty bottle of wine glyphs? --Shoptroll 16:54, 21 January 2008 (CST)
- if you toss a coin ten times, there is a chance that it will come up heads ten times. if you are tossing a coin a hundred times, you will notice the runs of either heads or tails, and it's fairly likely that you'll get a run of ten of either. if you're doing the hole in the sky, you'll notice that you're short of one of the three items. rng love is all. all this piratey speculation is entirely useless without hard numbers. as i said, open 1,000 in a run, and then open a further 1,000 in a different run. then we can start to be sure. --Evilkolbot 17:12, 21 January 2008 (CST)
