Do we know yet whether this is once a day or not? Robert McFarlane 10:23, 6 December 2007 (CST)
- Sure seems like it.. I've burnt fifty adventures trying to get a second one..--AltyMcAltAlt 03:32, 7 December 2007 (CST)
- . . . and so of course I get it again on the next click. No, not once-a-day. --AltyMcAltAlt 03:33, 7 December 2007 (CST)
Sure, see the discussion of the set a course for virgin seas choice. looks to be somewhere between 25-50 adventures at the moment.--Wylin 10:34, 6 December 2007 (CST)
The mechanic does not appear to be impacted by Combat Frequency modifiers. I used Ring of conflict, Sono Un Amanten Non Un Combattente, Fresh Scent, and The Sonata of Sneakiness without any change in frequency %. It is probably a fixed frequency around 3%.--Mis2027 09:07, 17 December 2007 (CST)
Some additional spading has revealed that this adventure will not appear more frequently than every 30 adventures, but apparently always appears by every 35 adventures. This is consistent with a combination counter-superlikely method, where the counter triggers every 30 Poop Deck adventures, then the O Cap'm adventure has a very high, non-100% frequency following that, for example 60%, where 5 attempts would produce a 99.99% chance of the event occurring.
It should also be noted that this apparent counter does not reset when adventuring elsewhere, but also does not advance - if you put 15 adventures into The Poop Deck, leave and adventure somewhere else, then return, the counter will trigger in another 15 adventures.

20th Dec Radio show [1] 1:20:14. Jick:"It's a normal, I think, 25% chance of getting the non-combat adventure, but there's a limiter on it... It only takes, like, 30 turns." --ArgghFW 05:11, 4 January 2008 (CST)
- It should therefore be possible to greatly suppress the adventure (no idea why you'd want to, but interesting spading opportunity)...a Seal-Clubber with Musk of the Moose, Carlweather's Cantata of Confrontation, Monster bait, Hippy Stench, and 30+-lb Jumpsuited Hound Dog should almost never see the adventure. Unfortunately, I have neither the Dog nor am an SC, so I'd have more limited spading leverage on such an effort...any volunteers?--Mis2027 15:38, 5 January 2008 (CST)
I have been adventuring there for the last few days and the 30+ adventures seemed to be holding up to around 36, however, I just had a 42 adventure hiatus between, so it appears the upper limit is what we are going to be searching for. Here's hoping it doesn't extend further.--Kruntus 02:46, 15 January 2008 (CST)
It seems the count persists across Ascensions, I just got this on my first adventure on the Poop Deck for this ascension. Robert McFarlane 04:46, 15 January 2008 (CST)
I am still adventuring hard out at the Poop Deck, putting in around 200 turns there per day. Since last report, I have had the adventure once at 28 turns, and twice at 29 turns. I have had no repeat of the extreme gap, as reported before, the longest since being 36.--Kruntus 20:46, 17 January 2008 (CST)
- Are you positive it was 28 and 29 turns? This is the first I've heard of that, and I've been putting in ~350 turns a day in the Poop Deck for a week. --TechSmurf 21:57, 17 January 2008 (CST)
I visit the poop deck daily and waste a good 200+ adventures there, today i just got two O Cap'm My Cap'm Adventures one after another then another one within 10 adventures. Possible bug or change in formula for adventure occurance? Will continue to test. During change in adventure frequency i had deposited meat into my clan stash between the consecutive adventures. Will test if there is a clan aspect. --Wilbemine 02:35, 02 april 2008 (CST)
Started with 199 adventures, didn't hit the adventure until I was down to 146 (53 adventures). Next one happened at 114 (32 adventures). Next one at 83 (31). Then 53 (30), then 21, (32). Why did my first round take so long for me to hit this adventure? --TehShrike 01:50, 16 May 2008 (CDT)
I just logged in with 80 adventures and got it at 47. --InitHello 02:27, 11 July 2008 (CDT)
I just got my first O Cap'm adventure after three or four adventures at the Poop Deck. I haven't ascended yet.--Vae Victis 05:50, 31 August 2008 (CDT)
Adventure Consumption?
Does it consume an adventure to "Step away from the helm"? Y0u 11:11, 6 December 2007 (CST)
- I've wondered this myself every time I have not stepped away, so this time I did, and at least for me, on this day, it did NOT consume an adventure to step away. I would love for some other people to confirm this before I go change the actual page though. Can some others replicate & confirm? --Hallehoopma 08:52, 14 January 2008 (CST)
- Confirmed today. Got this adventure and chose to step away. I am certain it did NOT consume an adventure because I had 1 adv left...I backed away and I still had my 1 adv. --Worshiprick 00:09, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- Showing the navigator the volcano map also does not take an adventure -- and I got the adventure again three turns later. —Yendor 05:11, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
- Going to the volcano does not appear to set the 30-turn delay as the other two options do. I also have had the experience of showing the map (though I already knew where the volcano was), and getting the Poop Deck again a few turns later. --Pastangum 01:55, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
- I've had O Cap'm repeat on clicking the Adventure Again link after showing the map. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 15:04, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
References
- The removal of this adventure for 29 turns may be a reference to Gordon Lightfoot's song (about the real sinking of the ship) "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". In particular the lines in the song about the 29 crew who drowned when the ship sank: 'In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed, in the "Maritime Sailors' Cathedral." The church bell chimed 'til it rang twenty-nine times for each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald.' This reference fits well with the context of the adventure. --Mitchd 15:36, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- There must be a reference for the navigator description (after all, my favorite navigator is female w/short, red-orange hair), so can anyone post it if they know?
- On the Disney version of Peter Pan, Captain Hook had a little sidekick guy who had gray hair and glasses, and didn't talk like a pirate. I don't remember him having a beard, though. --Sirjeffreyofvistledorf 17:06, 6 December 2007 (CST)
- Mr Smee? http://www.disneypix.com/Character/Smee/SmeeDX.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smee_%28Peter_Pan_character%29 Doesn't really have a beard per se... Squiffle 18:04, 6 December 2007 (CST)
- (to original post) who, Nami?--The ErosionSeeker 22:09, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
- Any idea why it costs 977 meat? That seems like an odd amount, that might be a reference to something. --ElroyJetson 17:02, 26 December 2007 (CST)
- the Pretenders have a "Pirate Radio Boxset" that has a song "977" originally from their "Last of the Independents" album and a website w/ the title "Pretenders 977 Radio" - possible reference(s)? --Grimdel 13:59, 3 January 2008 (CST)
- For what it's worth (probably not much), all of the special numbers in the game, 11, 23, and 37 are prime, and 977 is another prime number. Also 1000 - 23 = 977. (Buying 977 cool whips didn't do anything special for me, though.) --Club (#66669) (Talk) 14:22, 28 January 2008 (CST)
Combat Action Bars
- I've spent 200+ adventures a day for several weeks now at the Poop deck and get on average (say 6 out of 7 days of adventuring) 6 cursed pieces a day. But recently I added the combat action bar, and have been alternating between five and six a day more frequently. I thought, however unlikely, that there might be some relationship between the combat action bars and the frequency. Then today I spent 48 adventures until I got the 'O Cap'm' adventure (50 - 2). Has anyone else experienced this? I am going to keep count from now on to see if this repeats itself, but maybe the adventure cap for this adventure has changed?--Strwrsfrk 08:05, 21 March 2008 (CDT)
Recent Changes?
- I've been farming the poop deck for a while and recently, I stopped getting the O Cap'm, My Cap'm. Today I spent 127 adventures and never saw one. I'm also farming roc feathers, but I don't think that's connected. Has anyone else noticed a change? --Crowther 00:07, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

- Darn it. So somehow two people independently noticed the same nothing at the same time. I'm not convinced. --Crowther 15:30, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, it seems I've found the problem. After spending 2^16 adventures at the poop deck (during a single ascension), you can no longer get the O Cap'm, My Cap'm adventure. I'd like to hear this confirmed by someone else (or better yet, fixed). --Crowther 17:57, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- short ints are a bugger. congrats and commiserations. did you post an in-game bug? you could always ascend and be back at the poop deck in one rollover without breaking sweat, though. --Evilkolbot 18:02, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Volcano Map
Couple of quirks I noticed with the map today.
- Even after killing my nemesis I'm given the option of showing the map to the navigator, and choosing that map gives me text as if I were going to island for the first time. It did not reset the island for me to fight the nemesis again.
- Immediately clicking on the adventure again link in the left pane, I was returned to the O Cap'm choice again. I fronted the meat and sailed off and then the choice went away for 30 adv as normal.
--Club (#66669) (Talk) 18:45, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
- I got this adventure, used the map (for the first time in an ascension), then came back to the poop deck immediately and got this adventure again 2 turns later. So it looks like using the map does not force you to wait 29 turns again to get this adventure.
--Devjoe 00:32, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
using this adventure and giving the coordinates mentioned after showing the map, you (as they say in the description), just get a random item.--The ErosionSeeker 01:17, 24 March 2012 (CET)
Rollover
There was a recent edit that claimed that the 29 adv limit on this adventure is removed at rollover. Anyone have specific data backing that up? (The edit was reverted due to a misunderstanding, I think, so it should also be worded a little differently.) --Starwed 04:59, 12 January 2012 (CET)
- I will have one of my multis check this out with the next rollover unless someone comes with data backing this up. --Chunky_boo 05:29, 12 January 2012 (CET)
- Day 1 and it took 30 adventures before i got this one when it was my last adventure the day before. --Chunky_boo 04:48, 13 January 2012 (CET)
- I have been doing it every day and I still have to go at least 29 adventures before getting this adventure so unless the RNG hates me I think this was just incorrect. --Chunky_boo 07:23, 17 January 2012 (CET)
- Day 1 and it took 30 adventures before i got this one when it was my last adventure the day before. --Chunky_boo 04:48, 13 January 2012 (CET)
