Talk:Northern Exposure
This page states the the skill give slight cold resistance, whereas the Elemental Resistance page says it's so-so. Which is right? --EEpiccolo 15:12, 5 April 2006 (CDT)

What's up with the random </div>? --Listen2Reason 20:46, 15 August 2006 (CDT)
I permed this skill in HC and on my char sheet it says
Cold Protection: Minor
I'm currently in level 5 will check after a few levels --jeremypv 00:34, 24 January 2007 (CST)
Maybe this is a bit redundant, but having this skill allows access to the Icy Peak with no extra equipment. Think this should be spelled out on the skill's page? --Skewer324 17:10, 26 January 2007 (CST)
Reference
Oh, come on, this skill has nothing to do with Diablo II - a game which as far as I am aware is not referenced anywhere else in KoL; I would be far from shocked if I learned that neither Jick nor Mr. S. had any interest in it whatsoever. Barbarians always hail from the frigid northlands - see just about any fantasy thing with barbarians ever in ever. Magic: the Gathering, I'm ashamed to admit, springs to mind as an excellent example that, I believe, predates Diablo II (specifically, I'm talking about the Ice Age expansion. I'm going to go kill myself now). Yes, the phrase is the same, but there are only a finite (and smallish) number of words to string together to describe the concept (my profile uses the slightly awkwarder "frozen northern tundra"). --Id the Mildly Confused 01:02, 2 January 2007 (CST)
- Indeed, it comes straight from the Seal Clubber class description: "Seal Clubbers hail from the frigid Northlands, because one character class always hails from the frigid Northlands." It's not a reference to anything in particular; it's a fantasy staple. —Yendor 11:21, 2 January 2007 (CST)
- The term and concept of "frigid northlands" is, as the class description says, pretty common to fantasy. I think it is probably unlikely that it is referring to Diablo II in particular, and we shouldn't have an entry in every reference section for every time KoL uses a term found anywhere else. - But I do think the Hidden City has pretty clear references to Diablo II, with the aneurysm causing pygmies. Eran of Arcadia 13:58, 20 September 2007 (CDT)
