There are a total of 17 possible references from that single disambiguation page - who are you to say that National Geographic Society is the one being referenced by KoL? Battling a globe? How do you think the connection between "NG" and a globe is to be made? Accident? This was my instant reaction when I encountered the globe first time. How do the other ones fit? The connection comes from the lyrics of the song 'Ana Ng': "Make a hole with a gun perpendicular / To the name of this town on a desktop globe / Exit wound in a foreign nation / Showing the home of the one this was written for". See the "use" message. --Incandenza 15:33, 12 July 2006 (CDT)

The NG (my reference) is far more known than this strange song, I think. Besides, there are lots of double or triple references. I would have been completely unable to either find the song or to apply it. I find this ridiculous as (only) solution to this "riddle". The National Geographic may or may not be more widely known (to the KOL audience?) but the combat message CLEARLY refers to the lyric. Note the boldfacing of the word perpendicular in the globe description. They Might Be Giants references abound in this game. As best you could say NG MIGHT refer to the National Geographic but definatly refers to Ana NG. --Mkanoap 15:41, 12 July 2006 (CDT)

The Ana Ng reference and puzzle solution is clearly intended. To solve the puzzle by assuming NG == National Geographic is a highly idiosyncratic approach at best. The fact that you find the intended solution "ridiculous" or wouldn't have been able to figure it out doesn't make your strange alternative any more plausible. --Incandenza 16:05, 12 July 2006 (CDT)
