Talk:Mutant whistle-carving elf

Did this beastie just appear today or something, or has it been around the whole time? I've only just seen it, but I've only adventured there enough to gain items. --laparapa 14:17, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

I can't believe no one has posted a single bit of spading info on the drop rate for the elven whittling knife. How am I supposed to know if it's better for me to buy at the mall or to get myself? Usually you guys are on the ball about this stuff. What happened? I'm just expressing some concern here. Not trying to ruffle any feathers. --Lemon-claw 05:28, 19 December 2008 (UTC) I used Spirit of Crimbo and got a Twitching Claw. can someone confirm that that's the official 'Spirit of Crimbo' drop for this? --Erich 04:14, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Can't confirm that - but I can confirm that, when defeated normally, it drops limbos gingerbread. --Gunther Maplethorpe 04:19, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Posted this on the item page, will stick it here too.
I was wondering about the drop rate, specifically if it had a drop mechanic similar to the crates and mutant parts. There's the knife, the antlers, and the grimacite stick - has anyone dropped more than one of the three in a single day? Done 352 adventures in the Atomic Factory with at least 200% +item and often more, fought 66 whistle-carvers and 71 circuit-solderers, for a return of a single pair of antlers (and a massive pile of all the other stuff, limbos/gloves/etc). Could it be a similar mechanic to the crates/parts, or is the drop rate just miniscule? Neil Senna 17:31, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
I think the drop rate is just comically low. I'm in HCO (but doing Crimbo anyway) spending 40 turns a day farming them and it took me 4 days to see my first antlers (and still no knife) with around +100% item. Got a decent stack of (currently unusable) limbos and moonshine, tho. --Lordebon 16:10, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

I got 2 antlers back to back so there can't be a limit of one for that drop. I've been putting a lot of turns in on the crimbo items with olfaction but haven't been exactly spading. From rough numbers olfacting with 300% item bonus, seeing a kneecap, antlers, whittling knife or sweater about every 250 turns so ballpark drop rate of .1% Happy Crimbo suckers! - T_xoui Dec. 22 2008

Maybe the drop rate has something to do with which side you have killed the most troops. I have had a really hard time getting the elf item drops but I get the penguin drops pretty quickly and that is the side I fought the most before the reinforcements were added.--Stormcaller58 18:49, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

I don't think so. I only fought the elves before reinforcements and I needed about 7 days to get the knife from the elves (and I don't have the antlers or any penguin stuff) :( --Arledge 12:55, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Fighting text

This is an elf who used to be in charge of carving all of the wooden whistles for good little girls and boys, because nothing thrills the soul of a child like a wooden whistle.

Anyway, since his exposure to Grimacite radiation, he hasn't been carving many whistles, or wetting any whistles, either. Now he's just a big, hulking monster with a knife. And that's the very best kind!

Hit messages: He slashes you with his knife. Well, at least he didn't use his claws.

He blows a whistle really loud, right in your ear. You collapse as you flash back to high school gym class.

He jams a whistle up your nose. Well, at least it'll be easier to call taxis now. Wait, what's a taxi?

I don't know how to edit the actual page so I will leave this here. And I can second the confirmation on limbos gingerbread --Vhalantru 04:24, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Miss messages: He plays a brief snippet of classical music on his whistle, tragically showcasing the mind that used to be before the radiation destroyed it. Happy Crimbo, I guess.

He tries to slash you with his knife, but you pull out a gun. That's the Loathing way!

Scaling Cap

Just figured I'd put it out there, but this one caps at 15K ML, instead of 10K. I didn't record my results, so I have no objections if someone more reputable wishes to confirm this. --Val 18:46, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
