Talk:Monster Modifier

Just adding some notes here on what certain modifiers might do:

  • skinny
    • Looks like it halves HP and enemy defense. I had a skinny drunken rat with 4 HP, 10 Attack, and 4 Defense.-Foggy (talk) 14:22, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
    • skinny paper towelgeist: 20/9/11 instead of 21/18/22 for Att/Def/HP.
  • tiny: Looks like it's either 2/1/1 (Att/Def/HP) or 10% of Att/Def/HP, based on a tiny tektite I ran into.-Foggy (talk) 14:37, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
  • turgid: Didn't appear to affect Baron Von Ratsworth, which may mean that it just doesn't affect scaling monsters.-Foggy (talk) 14:37, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
  • drunk (3 items?):
    • Monster dropped plain old beer, bottle of Pete's Sake, and prussian cathouse with a fly in it.
    • bottle of whiskey, grog, Imp Ale
    • papaya sling, bottle of Jorge Sinsonte, parisian cathouse(!)
    • It seems to me that drunk monsters only drop good quality or lower, and potency 3 or lower. -- JaAchan (talk) 10:32, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
  • yuletide (3-5 items?):
    • 1 Monster dropped 2 gingerbread bugbear and 3 fruitcake
    • Another dropped 2 eggnog, 1 gingerbread bugbear, and 1 fruitcake.
    • 2 eggnog, 2 fruitcake, 1 candy cane
    • 2 fruitcake, 1 gingerbread, bugbear
  • clingy
    • When doing the 'search drawers for billiards room key' quest, fighting the repeat monster for a clingy monster did not advance the number of searched drawers. -- JaAchan (talk) 07:08, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
      • The repeat monsters seem to be treated as if they're not in any zone. I saw a similar thing in the Desert, and I think in the Black Forest. —Yendor (talk) 08:04, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
        • A clingy screambat did open up another cavern. -- JaAchan (talk) 08:19, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
        • The last Dirty thieving brigand was clingy, so I got another one - the sisters completed the quest on the first one, and said "Almost all of the Meat is still in the hands of those bandits -- please continue your efforts!" on the second one, but the quest was completed. -- JaAchan (talk) 06:38, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
        • 2nd clingy duck (Myst Island quest) counted towards the 5 to clear the back 40. --Sadv (talk) 16:29, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
    • Just got the clingy modifier twice, so you can chain it in theory. -- JaAchan (talk) 14:38, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Regarding Drunk monsters, in my one run, I collectively received the following expensive boozes: 1 bottle of Lieutenant Freeman, 2x corpsebite, 2x parisian cathouse, 2x purple corpsel, 1 rabbit punch, 1 red-headed corpse, 1 single swig of vodka. Looks like booze from El Dia de Los Muertos Borrachos and KOL High can drop right now. -- AnthonyBourdain (talk) 19:44, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

Hmmm.. Not sure if this was a glitch or what, but fighting a ghostly mayo wasp, I get jump, attempt to pickpocket, then it attacked me twice. No other modifiers (clone, shaky, etc). --Sadv (talk) 16:27, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Modifier Combinations

With the dual-modifiers, I've encountered a large number of combinations. From my limited spading so far, it seems the type-changing modifiers are mutually exclusive, as are the damage over time effects. Other combinations are in full swing, including the terrifying combinations of annoying + ticking, and annoying + untouchable. Enemy movement/appearance modifiers stack as well, I've seen floating and restless, shy and invisible, and yuletide and tie-dye combined. Addendum: I have also encountered tiny and skinny combined, however the tiny stat changes appeared to override the skinny. Stats were all 24. --Eury7us (talk) 20:44, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

  • Auras are decidedly not mutually exclusive. "You're fighting a wet, hot, funky pirate." --The ErosionSeeker (talk) 22:17, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
  • "tiny, disguised" => disguised overrides the tiny image modifier -- JaAchan (talk) 12:04, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
  • "tie-dyed, invisible" => invisible override tie-dye. -- JaAchan (talk) 12:09, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Some more notes

Thanks to the way the yellow pixel drops, it's easier to parse out logs and figure out what has dropped based on certain modifiers. Note that for clowning, I counted 234 drops, but polka-dot bow tie was not one of them.-Foggy (talk) 16:26, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Blocking Rates

Is there any good spading data on the blocking rates of annoying/cartwheeling/phase-shifting/restless monsters? --Fuzzything44 (talk) 03:49, 24 October 2017 (UTC)
