Talk:Modular, Dude
Do both the pull the lever and not pulling the lever really give the same outcome? Also maybe this is Jicks way of seeing what kinda crimbo players would prefer. The "crimbo" who more players saved is who runs it from now on? Maybe not, but just a thought. --Bongo Extreme 22:53, 23 December 2007 (CST)
Yes, I can confirm it. Both lever options do the same thing. Also, the text back at the trailer when you've blown up the ship...
"Holy cow, kid, I didn't know you had it in you! So my brother was behind the whole thing, huh? That figures -- every time I tried to get ahead in life, he was always there to one-up me. I'm pretty impressed you chose me over him, kid, all things considered. I kind of figured I'd screwed up Crimbo like I've screwed up everything else, and you'd jump at the chance to have me out of here.
You say you didn't have a choice? Well, that's sweet, kid, that you believed so strongly in me that you felt like it wasn't even a choice. Have a Happy Crimbo, kid, you earned it"
Also also the spirit of crimbo speech is a not so subtle defense of the devs of the game also, in a way. -Darkwolf 23:06, 23 December 2007 (CST)
the effect is the same (or at least appears to be), but the message after pulling the lever is different... this is what i got...
""Hey, wait a minute," you say, shaking your head, "Uncle Crimbo may be a belligerent, combative, unprofessional pain in the neck, but he's our belligerent, combative, unprofessional pain in the neck. He's just an average guy doing the best that he can! And, now that I think about it, having some new stuff to do every Crimbo is way better than having nothing new. Sure, some of the things he does are disappointing, and he always could have done it better, but at least he tries -- that's something you never did. I think he knows what the true spirit of Crimbo is far better than you." You pause and catch your breath, then turn directly to the camera. "Because after all, Crimbo is about sharing, and we really should all quit complain --"
"Gag me with a candy cane!" Father Crimbo shouts. "Look, just pull the lever. I can't stand any more editorializing."
You grab the lever and pull it with all your might..."
from there it seems to be the same message thats posted in the article--Xone01 23:37, 23 December 2007 (CST)
Can you add this accomplishment? "You saved Crimbo from Father Crimbo and his assimilated Crimborg."--Cassarenas 00:38, 24 December 2007 (CST)
- This is already added on the Quest Log page. Since there was never actually a Quest given for all this, the only other place that it might be worth mentioning is the Crimbo page itself. If such an addition was made for prior crimbos that gave similar permanent accomplishment entries. --Flargen 01:22, 24 December 2007 (CST)
How can a computerized voice mention a self-destruct sequence if the EMP took out all of the electronics? =P Also, the Borg Queen wasn't defeated in that Star Trek film (her true death comes in the Voyager series, I think), so there is a chance we could be seeing Father Crimbo again. That and "A" Sinister Dodecahedron makes me think there's more than just one of these somewhere up in the sky. --Doomsday Forte 02:19, 24 December 2007 (CST)
- What, you were expecting it to be called "One of Several Sinister Dodecahedrons" or "The Only Sinister Dodecahedron Ever"? Because The Sinister Dodecahedron is already taken (and, furthermore, I believe it has been noted that "The Sinister Dodecahedron" was the text for the last adventure link). Its singular definitive article self is presumed to be the same thing as A Sinister Dodecahedron, only in a new spot. It's also not like they can't break from the wacky plots of Star Trek for a bit. I rather suspect they don't like the Voyager series, anyway. Though it will be interesting to see how Uncle Crimbo messes things up next year. And if Star Trek should have taught you anything, it's that: (1) everyone dies shortly after life support fails; (2) no one seems to ever figure out that putting the bridge on the edge of the ship is retarded; (3) The self destruct sequence can always be activated; except for this one time in that one episode where the aliens knew the ship so well they were able to specifically target the exact systems that run the self-destruct and then it wouldn't work (haha, owned). --Flargen 19:32, 24 December 2007 (CST)
Reference: the line: "Ah," Father Crimbo says, "but why would you want to pull that lever? Are you some kind of born lever-puller or something? Is most likely a reference to the full length animation the Yellow Submarine. The original line is "I'm a natural born lever puller." --Hedwards 22:31, 26 December 2007 (CST)
- Ya It's already on the page.--Chunky_boo 23:56, 26 December 2007 (CST)
Umm. Does it say 'On second that, forget I just said that'? -That-? Gigo 15:15, 28 December 2007 (CST)
I'm pretty sure the options "Pull the lever" and "DOOOOON'T PULL THE LEVER" are references to one of the dubbed over G.I. Joe PSAs, where the crazy skier guy is 'helping' the kids save their friend from drowning and says, "Give him the stick, DOOOOON'T GIVE HIM THE STICK!"--iMax 00:53, 30 December 2007 (CST)
