Talk:Miscellaneous Discoveries
I just tried all the duct tape items, and none made a discovery nor became listed here. --JRSiebz (☎|§|‡) 08:10, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- I did the same with handfuls of sand, bricks of sand, mummy wrappings, long skinny balloons, aaand... Nada. This seems like it isn't fully rolled out yet. --TechSmurf 08:20, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- Aaaaand it's gone. So yeah, not fully rolled out.--Ryo_Sangnoir 15:44, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
It's been rolled out now, and mine is considerately pre-filled with several duct tape, clingfilm, wumpus hair and spooky bark recipes. —Yendor 04:16, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
- looks like it's stuff you have in your DC. --Evilkolbot 22:29, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
- Might look like it, but it isn't. I've got all the balloon, mummy, and palm-frond items in my DC, but not in my Misc Discoveries. I do have 19 recipes involving cling film, duct tape, spooky bark, and wumpus hair. Are the turtle mail ones only there for turtle tamers? Because I made all of those more recently than the cling film items, but I'm not seeing that section. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 06:29, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
- In the forum thread, Hotstuff says things made from untradeable ingredients get credited to discoveries (obviously, because the player has made them themselves), as well as rare stuff like the bark. Balloons and the like don't, because you can't prove you made them. —Yendor 07:15, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

I've filled in everything missing, aside from some any future BRICKO recipes. There shouldn't be anymore previous items, I checked all of Mafia's multi-use concoctions.--Toffile 06:30, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
When this first rolled out (early) I was so hoping it would include all the other discovery types, but no, it doesn't. I just tested some supertinkering today, and got nothing here. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 18:47, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Not Working
I just tested making bricks of sand and a sandcastle, but those don't show up as discoveries. Also, unlike meatpasting, taking something apart, eg BRICKO hat, is not enough to discover how it is made. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 20:39, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
When I reported the absence of sandy discoveries as a bug, the response I received from Multi Czar was: "Items that can only make one thing (ex: handfuls of sand>bricks of sand) were intentionally excluded from the discoveries." --Noskilz 22:18, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's shocking that it was excluded. If only that reasoning was mentioned in the forums post that announced the new system...--Toffile 22:20, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
- Likewise, star items are not working in the discoveries. Apologies if that was mentioned in the forum post as something that was deliberately excluded. --Bonkbonk 06:23, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, "miscellaneous" means "multiuse" here. Starcrafting and super-tinkering, and all those old crimbo crafts are excluded. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 06:28, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Numberwang
Numberwang is a Discovery? That would be very interesting. That would mean you can do more than Numberwang with dubious peppermints. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 07:22, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- It's unlisted, hence being under the Unlisted section (according to Cannon). — Cool12309 (talk) 15:50, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- We haven't traditionally listed multi-use recipes for items that only generate one item.-Toffile (talk) 17:19, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- It's not just us, it is the game. If you can multiuse it, but it only creates one thing (see the gilded BRICKO chalice for example), the game does not treat it as important, and it does not show up in your Discoveries. That's why it would be "very interesting" if Numberwang is a Discovery. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 00:37, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- It is not a discovery in-game because it is not an item that results from multi-use. It's just a post effect of multi-using 169 dubious peppermints--Cannonfire40 (talk) 00:40, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- That would be somewhat incorrect. "things that are multi-usable, but only ever make one kind of thing are considered more of a puzzle than a craftable, and do not have a recipe that you can discover" - HotStuff.-Toffile (talk) 03:02, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- Today I learned--Cannonfire40 (talk) 05:32, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
