Sideways, down, down leads me to moxie every time (currently it's 278 or 300, but it's a moxie day so that is inflated)

--Remnant 19:50, 20 September 2006 (CDT)

Up, up, down got me 200 mysticality substat twice so far.

--- rholliday 04:34, 21 September 2006 (CDT)

The map will be the same for you every time, but it'll be different for everyone else... up, up, down just takes me to the Piet Mondrian poster, for instance. It probably changes with ascension too, like the Violet Fog. Phlip 04:44, 21 September 2006 (CDT)

  • Yeah, you're right. Up, up, down didn't get me anything on my seal clubber. However, sideways, down, down got me 300 moxie like Remnant. Of course, sideways, sideways, down did, too. Mysterious. I mean, Moxious.--- rholliday 05:55, 21 September 2006 (CDT)

Re: confirmation of the paintings, yep, you got them all, including Broadway Boogie-Woogie. The discrepancy between the description and the graphic on that one is because I forgot to tell Jick which one it was. --Riff 06:26, 25 September 2006 (CDT)

Today is mysticality day, yet i got 300 Fortitude from the gallery. Why?Samika 10:35, 25 September 2006 (CDT)

  • Today is just a regular old day and I got 300 Beefiness from the Louvre map, yet only 200 Cheek when going for moxie... I think the 200 Muscle substats may be off. --J12601 17:53, 4 October 2006 (CDT)
    • Hmm, I just got 280, so it's not fixed. I don't know if it's relevant, but I have 80 unbuffed Muscle... maybe it's 200+unbuffed Mus, with a cap of 300? Phlip 21:32, 4 October 2006 (CDT)
      • Since the clover adventure in the gallery scales, maybe these gains scale as well? But scale at a set increment instead of a set range of X-Y. So at level X you get gain Y, and at level Z you get gain W. I took four stat boosts from this adventure today, all three were at level 10 as a Sauceror. 2 moxie gains of 200 each, 2 muscle gains of 300 each. Since I have not tested this with other classes, or such things, my best guess is that the secondary stat for your class gets a boost of 200, and the tertiary stat would gain 300. All speculatory of course. --J12601 22:36, 4 October 2006 (CDT)
  • Today (non-stat day), my level 25 AT received 200 moxie, 200 myst, and 300 muscle. I did each one twice. --Crowther 12:42, 5 October 2006 (CDT)
  • I'm sure we can come up with the formula for this. This thread has two tries at it that closely match my own experience: either y = 3x - 5 or y = 3.25x - 19, where x is your current base, unbuffed main stat, and y is the gain you get in the Myst and Moxie branches. Muscle gain is 1.4y. There's some variance to it too, looks like about +/- 10. Finally, Moxie and Myst gains are capped at 200, while Muscle caps at 300. All we need to decide which formula is more accurate is to test at base mainstat values pretty different from 14/.25, or 56. Artifically low values would probably be the most informative. (i.e. getting in there with a base stat of 8 means one formula predicts 19 stat points, and the other predicts 7. Should be easy to tell which one is more correct there) Then it should at least be much more informative than the vague and inaccurate numbers listed currently. --Salien 04:06, 19 October 2006 (CDT)

Main stat gain

I noticed (using a multi) that regardless, enter the drawing and go sideways, up, then down and you'll get the 200 stat gain to your primary stat.

I call coincidence... It's not like that for me. If you're really interested in trying to find patterns in the maze, head over to Talk:Louvre Map#Complete maps and post your mazes' layout. Phlip 04:45, 18 October 2006 (CDT)
i seem to remember helion did some testing about repeated patterns [citation needed]. he suggested that DDU is for muscle substats, and i've found this three ascensions in a row. --Evilkolbot 11:59, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Posting this link here so I don't have to go hunt for it every ascension: http://www.feesher.com/louvre_mapper.php --Grevenilvec75 04:33, 30 June 2011 (CEST)

Reset on ascension?

The front page notes that the map is different for every character and for each ascension, but I've had three ascensions where I go down, down, up to get muscle stats. Unless this is an incredible stroke of luck, I believe that the Louvre map does not change with each ascension. --Stonecat 16:07, 6 April 2012 (CEST)

Looks to be coincidence. My KoLmafia logs from my last two ascensions show different maps of the Louvre. --timrem 16:52, 6 April 2012 (CEST)
my experience bears this out. the map is reset, true, but down down up does seem to get muscle stats more often than true randomness would suggest. i have it currently, and had it last ascension. would be a reasonable mechanic, given that this is the muscle stat zone. perhaps we could get a project going. --Evilkolbot 19:04, 6 April 2012 (CEST)
It does change, but apparently it doesn't change enough. There was a thing on the KoL forums or KoLSpading a while back where they were asking people to post their info from the Louvre mapper and it turns out some distributions are more common than others. Can't find any links about the spading, but the project is mentioned here. --Johnny Treehugger 19:19, 6 April 2012 (CEST)
As of right now, the Louvre is reset upon ascension. However while there are lots of patterns, the entire mapspace isn't full. It's not uniformly random by far. For example, going down on the first choice will take you to the Scream in about 70% of the patterns.
The project's also been mostly done for a while, it's just an incredible pain to represent the entire conditional probability map.--Toffile 19:23, 6 April 2012 (CEST)

Revamp Adventures

I can't identify the painting:

You step off of the stairs and find yourself on an expanse of moonlit dunes. You hear some bleating from the next dune over, and you crest it to see a ring of crones sitting around a big bipedal goat, who appears to be teaching them how to do card tricks.

You join the circle long enough to learn something, but not long enough to get boiled and eaten by witches. Is This Your Card? You acquire an effect: Is This Your Card? (duration: 30 Adventures)

Dcorrin (talk) 12:58, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

So, TheRealAdam linked the above description to the Witches' Sabbath (Goya, 1798), but that painting misses any reference to "card tricks" (which I figured might be a tarot reference), so perhaps there is a different picture that is more correct?? Dcorrin (talk) 05:39, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

I've noticed that the choices now offer different choices even on the same visit (north, northeast, southwest, left, downward, etc.). The same starting point (monks) offered differently named buttons even on the same visit to the adventure. What's more, the differently name button at the same position (choice 1) led to a different area than it had led to when I chose it the first time. i.e. I started at monks, and through my choices came back to monks, but it was either a different version of monks, or monks' buttons can change each time you hit it. The first time, choice 1 took me to The Birth of Venus. The second time, choice 1 took me to The Persistence of Memory. This is making it a pain to spade. Persistence of Memory's choice 1 took me to the quest item, and I was out of time so stopped. --Hastifer (talk) 15:06, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

The New Map

Here's another look at the new Louvre Map. The one on the main page looks more KoL-ish of course, but this shows a pretty interesting pattern -- more order from chaos (if anyone's interested). --Tetravirus (talk) 02:39, 31 May 2014 (UTC)
