Talk:Kneebutt
I'm Kinda new too editing pages
So heres the attack text that goes along with the new kneebutt skill:
You hit for 171 damage. KAPOW! BARF! POW! ZOT! WHACK! BONK! SPLAT! BONK! ZAP! WHAMMO!
After that, you deliver a fierce knee to the groin (or groin-analogue) of your opponent, doing 14 extra damage. Your opponent doubles over in pain, and falls over. It's even more painful than a boot to the head (yah, yah.)
the text doesn't change and Damage is definitly dpendent on pants power it doesn't matter if your wearing a skirt, and if your pantsless, kneebutt will do one damage.
i don't know if kneebutt fails if your normal hit works
if anyone has anymore insight, post it so people can learn.

I've done some precursory testing on the kneebutt damage/stun rate with different pairs of pants. Here's what I have so far. Every pair was tested twenty times, so the below represents 100 combats.
Star pants (165)/ damage range: 17-32/ average damage: 24.4/ stun rate: 55%
Snowboarder pants (120)/ damage range: 11-19/ average damage: 14.7/ stun rate: 35%
Ninja hot pants (70)/ damage range: 7-14/ average damage: 10.55/ stun rate: 60%
Bugbear bungguard (30)/ damage range: 3-7/ average damage: 5/ stun rate: 45%
Mariachi pants (10)/ damage range: 1-3/ average damage: 2.1/ stun rate: 30%
Total stun rate: 45%
it appears that the damage range is roughly equal to (power/10) to (power/5). Chance of stun doesn't seem to be affected by pants power.--Discordia 15:25, 18 March 2006 (CST)
pants name | power | estimated damage | actual damage | stuns |
studded leather boxer shorts | 20 | 2-4 | 2-4 | 7 |
frilly skirt | 35 | 4-7 | 4-8 | 10 |
pixel pants | 50 | 5-10 | 5-11 | 9 |
bloody clown pants | 50 | 5-10 | 5-11 | 8 |
orcish cargo shorts | 60 | 6-12 | 6-12 | 6 |
clockwork pants | 80 | 8-16 | 8-16 | 7 |
1337 7r0uZ0RZ | 110 | 11-22 | 11-23 | 15 |
penguin shorts | 120 | 12-24 | 12-24 | 9 |
leather chaps | 130 | 13-26 | 16-25 | 7 |
furry pants | 150 | 15-30 | 17-30 | 9 |
The actual damage is pretty close to my estimates. I'm going to put my formula (along with stun information) on the Kneebutt page, but I'll leave the Needs Confirmation tag in case anyone wants to check my numbers.--Discordia 09:41, 11 April 2006 (CDT)

theory
This is my theory: all instances of yah yah have now been changed to nyah nyah. Lotusduck 21:43, 6 May 2006 (CDT)
- It was changed on a recent Jick show. --Ricket 22:45, 6 May 2006 (CDT)
Bonus to Hit
Knee butt has a large +muscle to hit modifier, anyone done any testing to work out what it is?
I have never missed the NS using kneebutt, so it must be at least +12ish.--D0om 05:09, 27 May 2006 (CDT)
I've heard +20, and while I've never spaded to see if I could miss at -21, I haven't missed at -20.--Dornbeast 19:57, 10 June 2006 (PDT)
pcentella suggests that the butt skills are also no-fumble. Is this true?--DirkDiggler 00:24, 21 November 2006 (CST)
In my experience, the entire time I was figuring out the Shieldbutt formula, I never once fumbled. I also did some more brief Head- and Kneebutt testing, and still never saw a fumble. I wasn't specifically watching them, but considering one would've messed with my data collection method, I would've noticed. So, I'd say yes, all 3 and any combos are all non-fumble. Anyone else feel free to chime in though since it's still possible I may have missed one as I wasn't watching specifically.--Salien 04:20, 21 November 2006 (CST)
Like all SKILLS, it's impossible to fumble with the *-butts, yes. ;) --Beatrix kiddo 12:13, 21 November 2006 (CST)
+To Hit bonus seems to increase as level does... only needed a +10 Muscle bonus for 100% hit rate at level 3, on an beanbat, but still missed with it. --Iziz 03:58, September 2, 2007 (CST)
- The bonus appears to be twice the character's level up to the maximum of 20. Actual spading is needed! --Bale 12:20, 1 December 2011 (CET)
Male/Female
I noticed whenever I used it on a female oppenent, there was no stun message ever, but if I used it on a male oppenent, there was a higher chance of it stunning.
Maybe that's it. --Dogmod 22:16, 13 June 2006 (CDT)
--You can definitely stun a female opponent with this. I don't know if the rates are different, perhaps, but it can stun female enemies up to and including the Naughty Sorceress. --Jererry 12:56, 10 December 2007 (CST)
(or groin analogue)?
I'm probably just being stupid, but what does the line: (or groin analogue) reference? --Tom93 12:45, 23 September 2006 (CDT)
- That not all monsters have groins. There are a lot of "or [body part]-analogue" combat messages that amount to a hilariously lazy way of accounting for amorphous/unusual anatomy monsters.--Jett 14:12, 22 January 2007 (CST)
Kneepads bonus?
Anyone knows if wearing knobby kneepads gives a bonus to this skill, the same way wearing a turtle helmet gives a bonus to Headbutt? --Duck and Cover 19:34, 18 January 2007 (CST)
- Unlikely, since the kneepads are an accessory, not pants, but I'll test it next time I have access to this skill--Salien 03:04, 25 January 2007 (CST)
- Well it looks like they do as per Pastrami on the Kneepads Talk page, though the amount still has to be spaded.--Xeno The Morph 15:30, 22 February 2007 (CST)

More data needed. --TechSmurf 20:03, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Some more data here. (Conclusion was 50% stun based on 597/1165). --Starwed 21:22, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, hey. Didn't even see that. Adding it to the page. --TechSmurf 00:26, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
50% stagger no longer true
The 50% stagger is not built in anymore.
Probably need a specific blessing to get staggers now. And that blessing isn't the war snapper blessing. War snapper instead causes it to delevel.--Hastifer (talk) 16:02, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
