I just had a reset and got 11 karma, so there's that. Maybe 11 karma is the minimum you get. Fernando Bono 13:49 15 Feb 2012 (-4)

Just a question for those who have already done so: what happens if we discard instant karma before the Valhalla revamp and we ascend? Do we still get 2 instant karma from the letter upon ascension? Do we gain our karma points? Or are they wasted? Xiexingwu 11:40, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

  • on a related topic - is there still a limit of 3 on discarding instant karma ? --Grimdel 20:25, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
  • Instant karma, as I understand it, no longer shows up in the letter. There's really no point since it is now a L13 requirement. Now you save it for aftercore or discard to allow more perms.--PC_Goldman 12:05, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

--no limit, I discarded 20-something and had the correct amount of karma credit in Valhalla--Williabr 21:18, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

  • It seems that i have answered my question. If you discarded your karma before the Valhalla revamp: You will get the appropriate number of karma points in Valhalla, and you will have any awards from the finished run (canned air etc.) appear in your inventory before you jump the gash. Xiexingwu 23:47, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

I know no one can answer that yet, but it would be interesting to know if it's possible to save up Karma for later visits to Valhalla. (If not, there would be no reason to discard any other number than 9 instant karma.) --Yatsufusa 12:23, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

  • Karma persists across ascensions. --TechSmurf 21:31, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
    • So would it be fair to say:
==Accumulating Karma==
Karma not spent before reincarnation will be available to spend at future visits to Valhalla. Only Jermery's Permery allows more than one purchase, so saving karma will allow you to perm skills faster.

It is not clear that saving your karma will let you perm skills faster. At least, the stated goal of TPTB is that the food and equipment rewards will make a HC run 5% and 0.5% faster, respectively.--Stannius 21:57, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Is there a way to check how much karma you have saved up before jumping in the rift? --Sparksol (t|c) 08:46, 4 October 2011 (CEST)

  • I haven't found any way. I've been using the Quest Notes to keep track of banked and expected Karma. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 19:42, 4 October 2011 (CEST)

terror is no fun

  • finished BHY run, in aftercore, used three expensive things to perm the resultant skills.
  • now. for obvious reasons, i find i need Kung Fu Hustler as well.
Also, discarding Instant Karma in your last life will grant you 11 extra Karma per discard in Valhalla.
  • is there a cap on the number of units of Instant Karma you can discard and get credit for? --Evilkolbot 13:33, 15 August 2011 (CEST)
    • the above comment "I discarded 20-something" is enough for my purposes but isn't exactly spading. anyone else? --Evilkolbot 13:37, 15 August 2011 (CEST)
    • My record so far was discarding 8 Instant Karma at once. (I keep records about my current karma and therefore I'm absolutely certain 8 work fine.) --Yatsufusa 13:59, 15 August 2011 (CEST)
