Talk:Giant pinky ring
What exactly does it do? What does it mean "Preventing Negative Status Attacks"? --Dorham 08:51, 18 February 2006 (Central Standard Time)
- Today I used it for the first time in the The Daily Dungeon against the The Apathetic Lizardman, hoping it would protect me from Apathy and I think it did. I got the following message: "Your ear tingles briefly, but the feeling quickly passes." I think that's because of the ring, but I'd like to see it comfired first. --Garath.McGrath 10:49, 18 February 2006 (Central Standard Time)
- So, is there any indication that the ring is worth all the trouble of going up the tree and everything in the leaflet? Yeah, it might protect against apathy, but we can always just use items or spells. Is there any reason for me to CLEESH the giant at all? This doesn't really seem that useful, but I could be wrong... --Zarr 19:53, 18 March 2006 (CST)
- Well, in a worst-case scenario, it's 100 meat you don't have to spend an adventure for. More practically, there are apparently plans for nastier status-inflicting enemies in the upcoming high-level content.--Ben-San Arizona 20:23, 18 March 2006 (CST)
- I can confirm the protection against apathy: "Your thigh tingles briefly, but the feeling quickly passes." --Stzein 08:49, 22 March 2006 (CST)
- I recieved a similar message when I attacked an acid blob with the ring equipped.
- The "protection" message I just got against an acid blob was: "You have an intense feeling of dread, but it quickly passes." And against the same blob on later attacks: "Your elbow tingles briefly, but the feeling quickly passes." and "Your head tingles briefly, but the feeling quickly passes." Looks like "random-bodypart tingles" or the dread, but more samples would be needed.--Terion 11:09, 26 June 2006 (CDT)
- What exactly happens with a 668 scroll? Does this reduce the chances of poverty or weakness? Perhaps I'll find out. --DirkDiggler 06:11, 8 May 2006 (CDT)
I'll go adventuring tonight with my pinky ring and bring the results from the Daily and the Doom.--Piroteknix 18:03, 26 July 2006 (CDT)
- I didn't get Apathetic, but I got teleportis twice, which isn't always a good thing. I didn't get a message about a body part tingling.--Piroteknix 13:02, 27 July 2006 (CDT)
- It did say 75% protection, not 100%. --Jedibob5
I suggest someone make a list of things it can protect against. --Verfanor 10:32, 2 September 2006 (CDT)
Will this prevent, say, the Naughty Sorceress familiar de-buff thing? That's negative...--Dead meat345 11:51, 24 February 2007 (CST)
- It's negative, but it's not an effect that's given to you. Currently, the two negative effects that have been spaded are Apathy from The Apathetic Lizardman and Corroded Weapon from Acid blobs. --'Ivan 12:47, 24 February 2007 (CST)
- Hmm, wouldn't this also stop you getting Hardly Poisoned at All from the various monsters that can cause it?--Xeno The Morph 13:43, 24 February 2007 (CST)
Adventuring with an O. A. F. while having this equipped, I received 0 adventures out of 87 that had a negative status, I'm going to adventure for 200 turns to verify this tomorrow.--Gezmo 08:10, 1 April 2007 (CDT)
Confirmed to work against poison (Really Quite Poisoned by Tomb asp) --Zarigani 03:21, 4 January 2008 (CST)
Despite it being one of the worst negative effects from a monster to date, it doesn't work against Coated in Slime. 20 adventures and the ring failed to block the effect even once. --Chillydragon 06:41, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Forgot to take my ring off after hunting in Black Forest, the ring triggered a queasy feeling but passes message against zombie waltzers in the Haunted Ballroom. I guess that means it works against half-eaten brain (and I just now noticed there was a whole page on Negative Status Attacks the ring would work against). --Spiny Twizzler 00:18, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
