Seems to make skills cheaper to cast and no splash back from spells in combat. --Darkness 23:01, 25 October 2007 (CDT)

What earth holiday is this an equivilent to? sorry about mispelling "equivilent" if I did. --El taco 01:47, 26 October 2007 (CDT)

Don't think it's an equivalent. Rather it is a "the-other-two-got-holidays-and-so-will-Jarlsberg" holiday. --RAMENGOAT 02:55, 26 October 2007 (CDT)

Considering its the first day of the Loathing year, combined with the look of the hat, the Festival of Jarlsberg seems to be the Loathing celebration of New Years.--Rikmach 11:23, 26 October 2007 (CDT)

I'm an AT and just got splashback damage from casting Stream of Sauce. So, does this holiday really prevent this? --Prestige 03:55, 26 October 2007 (CDT)

  • Quietust already removed it from the page, but I went ahead and tested Stream against 2 Hot ducks. Me = lvl 26 PM with 950 Myst, Immaculate and Intrinsic. With just the +10 from Intrinsic, my streams hit for 23 or 24 (the normal cap for stream). With the addition of +5 from a ring of increase damage, they hit for 23 or 24 and splashed back for 2 damage to me. Seems to be normal splashback.--Terion 14:59, 26 October 2007 (CDT)

I just used a phial of hotness and got 15 adventure instead of the usual 10 with my Impetuous Sauciness, so I think that you get some buff extensions as well. --Maxshimus 10:06, 26 October 2007 (EDT)

You wouldn't happen to have a jewel-eyed wizard hat, would you? It's been updated to give the extra buffs from the inventory. --Sleet 10:00, 26 October 2007 (CDT)

  • First that wouldn't affect the phial but I think he is a Sauceror with the skill since sauceror's get a natural plus five on reagent potions. --Chunky_boo 11:24, 26 October 2007 (CDT)

I'm an accordion thief and I got an additional 5 adventures of "Got Milk" from my milk of magnesium today.--Beliar Lightbearer 10:24, 30 January 2008 (CST)

Holidays

Hmm, given the other holidays of the other KoL Legends, this one kind of seems wimpy. Just my opinion. --Devion 07:52, 26 October 2007 (CDT)

  • Yeah, I was sort of hoping that when Jarls got his holiday that it would involve some sort of spleen bonus. (Not that the 'free' mp's aren't nice, but they are less useful to us low-skilled plinkers.)--Entwhistle 08:04, 26 October 2007 (CDT)
    • I dunno, getting an additional -3 MP to use skills (potentially allowing -6 MP total) seems like a hell of a bonus to me. --Quietust (t|c) 08:52, 26 October 2007 (CDT)
    • Today is also a Moxie day. Having spleen bonus and Moxie++ would be kinda odd... and the -3MP to spells is awesome. It makes stuff very cheep. Like Jalapeño Saucesphere for 1 MP! Its way better than say, Dependence day!--CluckyB 12:43, 26 October 2007 (CDT)
  • Jarlsberg is the wimpiest god, so I don't see why his holiday shouldn't be wimpy too. --Crowther 09:15, 26 October 2007 (CDT)

No Pants

Just curious - did anyone have no pants over rollover? Just curious if the No Pants trophy was reactivated for the first Jarlsburg day. --Grimdel 16:27, 26 October 2007 (CDT)

Unlikely. Mr. Skullhead swore he'd beat Jick up if it was even contemplated to be re-implimented. --El taco 00:41, 27 October 2007 (CDT)

References

I was just wondering isn't the quote "There's magic in the air" from the warcraft series where the blood elves say it? --Well 22:06, 2 January 2008 (CST)

It's a pretty common phrase.--Rachelkachel 00:02, 18 January 2008 (CST)

Cinco de Mayo

  • The next time this comes around is on Cinco de Mayo, will there be even more special events, like the other holiday that mixed with it? I can't remember the name though. --dewhashish 22:44, 11 March 2008 (EST)
  • You mean like Crimboween? Good observation! Hmmm, mysticality and Mexico... party hats and piñatas... I can't think of anything witty offhand, but as a combination of underrepresented holidays, it's a perfect chance for TPTB to have some creative fun. I'm crossing my fingers and saving lots of adventures for it. --Pastangum 23:31, 2 May 2008 (CDT)
  • The 2007 Cinco de Mayo fell on KOL's St. Sneaky Pete's Day, so the special drunken adventures on that day had been themed with South of the Border stuff.......--Vince3 02:20, 3 May 2008 (CDT)

Dates

It's Festival of Jarlsberg again today. Extend the one at Jan 1 to say "January 1st to 2nd" or replace the February occasion with today's? --Blzbob 04:35, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

It's on for me too, but someone else told me it wasn't still on for them. I assume this is some sort of bug and it's not supposed to be on for two days. --Bobogoobo 04:15, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
It's gone now. --Bobogoobo 19:16, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
