Misc Familiar Equipment

The effects of the Rat head Balloon are -3 to famil. lvl. Does that include -2 lbs? If so what are the effects of say... a -2 lb leprechaun farming a 2 meat drop monster? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zafoquat (talkcontribs) at 15:49, 11 June 2007 (CDT).

  • Familiar level cannot be reduced below 1 - if you try, it will just be capped. --Quietust (t|c) 09:29, 12 June 2007 (CDT)

Is there something different about the penguin-smacking club that leads to it being in the "Misc Familiar Equipment" table? --Snickles 22:37, 27 Jul 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

  • The penguin-smacking club is the Baby Yeti's familiar equiptment. You may be thinking of the seal-clubbing club, the initial equiptment for Seal Clubbers. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ceelgohsplatt (talkcontribs) at 22:44, 27 July 2005 (CDT).
    • I was wondering why it was on the Misc table, rather than the table with all of the other familiar equipment. But on a second reading, I notice that it increases familiar damage, not level. So, I am just unable to read. --Snickles 22:58, 27 Jul 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
      • I can't read either - I was about to pitch a fit about having erred so annoyingly on the annoying pitchfork, when I said to myself "Fork it, we're all entitled to our mistakes!"  :~) --Gymnosophist 00:02, 28 Jul 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
  • Is there even any reason why this page lists all the Familiar Equipment that doesn't at all modify Familiar Weight? To me, this section feels entirely out of place. Of course, currently the plastic pumpkin bucket, lucky Tam O'Shanter/Shatner, miniature gravy-covered maypole, and wax lips are listed in the section. If the section is removed they would have to be moved to the Weight Altering Familiar Specific Equipment section, which in turn would probably have the specific part dropped. I mean, there's already an entire page that deals with all the familiar equipment so why are we listing irrelevant information here? Well, I guess by looking at the history, it looks like the reason it's listed is because it started here before the Familiar Equipment was had it's own page (it just had a category). --TheDotGamer 20:17, 7 January 2007 (CST)

The stab bat is missing. --Amandakerik 11:44, 17 March 2008 (CDT)

The shock collar does not increase (or decrease) familiar weight in any way. Check in Familiar Equipment instead. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 13:54, 17 March 2008 (CDT)

I've reinstated the fam equip abbreviations. The reasoning behind this is that abbreviations, naturally enough, abbreviate the text. This in turn gives more space to other fields in the table such as the notes field, thus improving overall readability. The use of the unabbreviated "familiar equipment" additionally meant that every fam equip record in the table was expanded to fill two lines whereas in most cases, one line sufficed when using "fam equip". Additionally, I point out that these tables often make use of abbreviations such as "TT Passive Skill". If, perchance, a reader is ignorant of the intended meaning, they can simply click the the provided source link for a fuller explanation. These tables provide summary information on a particular dimension of gameplay and are not meant to provide exhaustive detail. --Gymnosophist 23:21, 18 April 2006 (CDT)

Wild Hare Description

Doesn't the descriptionon the Wild Hares equipment state "Makes March Hare More Better"? If so shouldn't it be "more better" in the table? --Winterbay 17:43, 25 April 2006 (GMT-1)

  • Yes, and that's why I just changed it back, along with updating a few others accordingly. --Quietust 10:53, 25 June 2006 (CDT)

Highest Possible

What's the highest possible weight a normal familiar can have at one time (e.g. mosquito, ghoul)? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Emouse33 (talkcontribs) at 12:42, 9 April 2007 (CDT).

  • 70 for most familiars. I've updated the article with a paragraph for details. --TheDotGamer 01:03, 10 April 2007 (CDT)
    • Isn't the theoretical maximum actually 103? With the serrated proboscis extension (a hacked item that gives +20lbs to a mosquito)
    • The highest possible is much higher now due to the El Vbrato Helmet with the El Vibrato drone as your familiar. Anyone want to add it? I suck at editing....--Gondall 09:12, 13 February 2008 (CST)

Was in pvp contest today, actual highest possible w/ megadrone is 204, not 199. Updating page.--WhiskeyJack 01:04, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

  • Well, if that's correct, then the maximum for regular familiars is off. The drone should be 81 pounds heavier than the heaviest standard familiar, and the current maximum for that says 124 pounds (not the 123 you should get if the megadrone caps out at 204). Were you forgetting a tiny plastic maybe? And I take it the bug you reported (much) earlier where the weight boost from cards wasn't affecting PvP has been fixed. --Flargen 01:39, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
    • I did the delta wrong--I subtracted five for the non-specific familiar equipment, but forgot there's generic fam equipment available. --BagatelleT/C 02:57, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Natural familiar weight gains

Quote from the page: "The following is a comprehensive list of everything in the game that affects familiar weight." What about base familiar weight? There is only a list of items altering the weight, and items are not "everything in the game" affecting familiar weigth. I think there should be some kind of list saying how many kills it takes for a familiar to go from weight X to weight X+1. Maybe it is somewhere else in this wiki, but I can not find it and it should be here. --Asimovmov 06:02, 11 April 2007 (CDT)

I'm kinda wondering why we have a chart of tiny plastic effects. Like, duh. --NoHassles 21:06, 3 June 2007 (CDT)

and why not have a chart of tp effects, you arent high on simpsons are you?.

anyway, time to add the effects or irradiated pet snacks? --Myst44 08:02, 29 July 2007 (CDT)

Shouldn't the level of automation of the familiar tools be updated somewhat? I'm reluctant to update it myself since the The Rye tool is mine, but I'm thinking some of the tools are really outdated by now. I also don't think there's a link to the The Rye familiar Greasemonkey script on the wiki that's on that same page.

El Vibrato Helmet?

Shouldn't the weight bonus for the megadrone given by the helmet be on this table?--Hua mei 16:44, 16 February 2008 (CST)

Probably. It's a little annoying insofar as it is not a static bonus like everything else, but it's not like we don't have tables elsewhere that deal with that. Last I heard there were indications that that bonus weight was a little different from usual bonus weight. By which I mean that it doesn't seem to apply for the familiar weight PvP minigame (presumably this is not a bug, as otherwise there is absolutely no choice on which familiar to use for PvP). --Flargen 17:38, 16 February 2008 (CST)

Suggestion on beginning anew

Would it be possible to nuke most of the page, and perhaps just make lists of familiar equipment that have effects that vary from the usual +5 lbs to a given familiar?

I mean, we already have Category:Familiar Equipment for a full list and if anyone wants to know what equips on what, they'd either go to the item page or go to the familiar page.--Toffile 05:38, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Stocking Mimic

The Stocking Mimic could do with a mention in here, since it appears to go up to 100lbs. Might even beat the Megadrone for max weight? --Lizardking 00:03, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

  • By My calculations it can go all the way up to 229 pounds--Icon315 00:13, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
    • Won't beat megadrone - it goes 20 higher than the mimic. Also, the calculations on the actual article are probably wrong - it hasn't been updated to the new rabbit hole stuff. --CG1:t,c,e 02:49, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

The expansion to the Turtle Tamer nemesis quest has added a few items that boost a familiar's weight ... anyone care to add those items? - AvangionQ / April 9th, 2010

I was trying to find some mention of these as well, especially the Fouet de tortue-dressage, which adds a whopping +10 weight. --Lassitude 21:22, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Page reorganization

I hope you guys don't have a problem with this, but I'm revising this page somewhat for more clarity and organization. I'm putting experience modifiers into their own subsection instead of just being in the lead paragraphs. Also, I'm moving the portion about max weight to the page Maximizing Your Familiar Weight since that exists now. Let me know if there's any problem. --Prestige (talk) 08:27, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Sounds like a good idea to me. I can't notice anything in the changes that I would miss. --Yatsufusa (talk) 04:42, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
